**SPORE**

Ok I can handle a difference of opinion... and what seems obvious to me isn't always to others and vice versa... lets just agree to disagree. :)

Well I'm enjoying reading this thread and watching the... ahem... discussion between you 2. It gives me, a non owner of the game something to look forward to, should arrive on Tuesday...

The changes from the 2005 version to the release version (taken from the video and what's been mentioned in this thread) don't sound too dramatic to me, the fact that its been made a little "cuter" doesn't surprise me at all, lets face it these are the guys that brought us Sim City and Sims and I can just about live with that as it shouldn't affect the games dynamics. Some of the other changes such as stat-based features being implemented don't sound so bad either and I can see why they did it. It gives that area a little more definition and limit, however I think I might have preferred the 2005 way of doing things. The main change that I can see that looks to have the biggest aspect on enjoyment is the way that your creature learns from its environment, if it's as simple as carnivore == aggression then that's a little too simplified and I don't understand why they would have changed it.

Still - can't wait to get my hands on it to see for myself. In the meantime I'll just keep checking this thread for updates :)

Well, Ive been playing it all day, between F1, rugby and sunday roast.. I love the space stage.

At least, I did..

Today I progressed in the space stage to beyond that of troublesome enemies. I was economically comfortable with 5 million in the bank, a fairly advanced ship and a fleet of allies to be proud of.

That is until now, my game decided to crash, and I havnt quit throughout the day as I just left it on while i ate/watched.

So, thats everything Ive done today down the drain.. I suppose im spoiled by modern games that auto-save, but is it not reasonable to think I want the game saved in Spore after every mission or so?!

Bloody annoyed.

Just been playing it this afternoon till now. Have to say i'm quite impressed.

But there is a serious problem with the character editing screen and my gpu. Keeps crashing every 2 min ... Other than that good game :D

i keep starting again for some reason, im never happy with my character, so back to the cell stage which is just funny, ive tried both carnivore and herbivore, im going to try to be a omnivore next, which should make my character look very interesting.

I just completed this

The game wasnt bad, it held my attention for a good amount of time

I think my problem was it just kind of petered out towards the end, The space stage was massivley deeper than the others but there was way too much micromanagement

After you had "beaten" the space stage by setting up a large empire, with a good enconomy and good tech. there was nowhere else to go other than to go away and do the last thing, my empire for nought

yes mate, the planet killer is still there, its like 4mil sporebucks per bomb...

ummm, im about 5% from getting my last rank... what happens? ive tried so many times to get to the center of the galaxy but i keep failed and getting shot down by the gnox.

i just got the 5th engine though, which widens my space travel range which should help.

as for EternityEight... no mate, thats not how you complete the game lol. but nice try on the blag :) completeing the game has nothing to do with the 'size' of your empire, its how many medals you get given, the more medals you aquire, the higher your rank goes, the higher your rank the closer you are to... well i dont know, im almost there lol

Hah, yeah should have been more clear there.

I got up to the last medal rank, got most of the medals but there were afew i wasnt interested and then did the final thing to see the end sequence

Thats kind of my point, after doing the final thing there wasnt much left. Ive got "delivery boy rank 4" for doing 30 delivery missions.... its way too much effort to do another 20 to get rank 5, because theres nothing that much to gain any more.

I still enjoyed it though, worth picking up

did you ever make it to the center of the galaxy as i beleive that is the main point of the game.

yeah, thats what i considered completing it since i'd already got the best rank.

you get a cool reward for doing it, but after youve got it there isnt much else to do so i only used it a couple of times to watch the effect
