Spurs ask for game to be replayed

Now I don't care what morals teams have, if your team had suspected food poisoning, the game should have been delayed/suspended.

Thats what first, reserve and youth squads are for. The fact that all of them played anyway shows that they werent that bad.

But in such an important game, fit or not, you throw your best players out.

At the end of the day, no matter who the team/manager was, they would all be complaining right now.

Are you sure? I've saw this version:

Mr Dave Richards
Chairman
The FA Premier League,
30 Gloucester Place
London
W1U 8PL

Dear Dave,

please will you let us play the game against West Ham again? I spoke to my mum and she says it’s really, really unfair because lots of our players had a tummy ache and dose of the *****.

Come on, pleeeeeeease? I’ll be your friend and I’ll give you two Action Mans, a slinky and a picture of my sister in her bra.

If you don’t I’m going to tell my Dad and he’s much bigger than you and he can easily duff you up.

Yours sincerely

DANIEL LEVY - age 8 1/2
Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur

If they were that illl then they wouldnt have been played. It's ridiculous that they are asking for a replay, yes be annoyed but don't do something so childish.

The only reason the FA can a should postpone a game, is if playing it is a danger to the players, there was no danger to the spurs players at all, no matter how exceptional the circumstances it is spurs responsibility to field a team. At the end of the day this sort of thing happens, and you have to deal with it, it's crap but it's life.

Loving the mild hypocracy of it though, "oohhh the game should have been postponed as we were at a disadvantage over Arsenal because of it", with absolutely no thought or care for the fact that it would disadvantage West Ham for the FA cup final.

The Fa offered Spurs the longest delay that they could possibly offer, they did all they could as it's spurs responsibility at the end of the day. Did they really need to stay in a hotel anyway ? Most teams in the country go to games 150 miles plus away on the day of the game, so why do they have to stay in a hotel when West ham is hardly a million miles away from WHL anyway.

What a mess. Asking for the game to be replayed is just stupid.

We got unlucky and lost our last game through a freak event. Take it like men.

I'm embarassed of our chairman for doing this.

What a joke..

Saying that.. if I had food poisoning I wouldn't have been able to play a football game..

They must have had the equivalent of a mild could and called in flu :/

This is a ridiculous state of affairs, it's all done and dusted, so why not leave it there, but the lure of the mighty dollar rears it's ugly head again.

I feel sorry(ish) for the Spurs supporters now, plenty of urine extracting ahead methinks. ;)

Two issues here

Problem is that the FA Premier league insisted on the fact that all games must kick off at the same time for this fixture day. They then offer a two hour and a four hour delay. So if they could do that why couldnt they postpone it for 24 hours ??? Once again the buffons of Soho square strike again

The other issue is that even if Tottenham do get a replay and they win they still won't get in the Champions league if Arsenal win it. 4th counts for nothing.

Personally I don't Wouldn't trust David Dein as far as I could throw him and it wouldn't suprise me if some of his skulldudgery were at play here. Can you expect a Chariman, Chief Exec or whoever to remain impartial when a potential £20million is at stake especially when you consider some of the debt Arsenal have ;) That said I don't think any acting club chairman should be on the FA Premier league commitee

Makes me laugh how a lot of Arsenal fans are saying its ridiculous and childish, but i bet if the tables were turned and they didnt qualify for the champions league even if they won it, they'd be going to extreme lengths too.

Absolutely. I still don't think it's at all sensible to ask for a rematch. It's just the way it goes tbh.

I see Spurs fans in here saying its stupid too, so why would Arsenal fans be any different?

I presume the Arsenal game would have also been delayed, we have no way of knowing.

Arsenal have no debt ;)

It's alright he's neither Chief Exec or Chairmen at Arsenal :p

spurs can bog off.

a toon fan here... thinking its shameful they are asking. i agree with the people who say about when arsenal were struggling to field players with injury.. cant replay half the season can they...

silly

In my opinion it comes down to whether the players were deliberetly poisoned before serious consideration of a replay can be made. However there are certain questions whether the FA officials acted in the appropriate manner.

Spurs were given a choice of either playing the game that day within 2 hours of the 3pm stated kickoff or face the risk of being deducted points. Obviously being deducted a number of points could have pushed Spurs even out of the UEFA cup places.

This is a situation which obviously wasn't contemplated, also the offer of the 2 hour delay was not enough (although i think they should have taken it to allow that bit more recouperation for the players). Slight inconsistancies here since the FA declinded postponement due to the games needing to kick off at the same time, yet they would have allowed a 2 hour delay to kick off?

However the game went ahead at 3pm with Spurs fielding their favoured 11 which included a large number of dehydrated players. Given what was at stake on the game the FA really should have postponed the game for at least 24 hours.

With West Ham preparing for the FA cup final it would not be fair to them to rearrange it now, and with the World cup preparations scheduled for as soon as possible I don't see where the game could now be rescheduled for.

Spurs will just have to wait for next season. :(

But we don't know if they would have moved the Arsenal game, or any other games it may of effected.

Why didn't Danny Murphy play? He wasn't ill. He didn't even come on.
