Spurs sack Poch

It’s not about the highly likely success he will bring Fa cup? League cup? It’s the nuclear fall he’ll create and leave afterwards is it worth that for the fa cup?

For me no, I liked your shout of Eddie Howe to be honest.

How more likely is it that he'll win a trophy anyway? All the "Mourinho guarantees success" stuff we hear has based on him typically having the the strongest squad in the league and or spending more than anybody else. Give most managers that and they're likely to pick up a tropy or two too. Mourinho won't have that at Spurs though and I can't see him making making Spurs a better side than the best Spurs sides under Poch. Of course he might win something but the law of averages means that eventually Spurs would and that would have applied had Poch stayed too.

It's quite telling that we're now discussing him winning an FA or League Cup as opposed to winning a League or CL - that's what Mourinho used to 'guarantee' and Mourinho loved to **** on other managers, at clubs with far less resources, that didn't win these trophies. That said, Mourinho does have a history of targetting Cup's like the League Cup and although it won't be nearly as easy as it was with Chelsea or Utd, where he had huge, costly squads, I suppose he's more likely to win that than Poch, simply because he'll take it more seriously.

I raised a hypothetical question earlier as to whether Levy would take finishing 3rd in your CL group and ending up in the Europa League as it would probably be your best bet of qualifying for the CL next year and becomes a realistic chance of winning something.

I agree completely with you, I was just taking the most likely scenario to happen. Don’t mistake me for a current Jose fan! 10 years ago yes but not now.

still can’t believe some spurs fans see this as a good thing :(

The trouble is, we've had little success over recent years and so we've become wedded to our identity - core of English players, academy output, solid financial management. Mourinho represents none of this. And most Spurs fans know success doesn't come easy at the club, so he might not deliver that either.

That identity has not brought success in the end, what's wrong with trying something new? Mourinho brought through some decent English talent and Chelsea and Man U (i think). I can't see the financial management changing under Levy so you will be fine in that department.

Oh, I know. I was just adding to your post @Jimbeam3678

Did he? I know there was some nonsense stat around PL minutes given to academy players when he was at Utd but that was made up of Rashford, Lingard (both full members of the first team squad before he arrived) and Pogba, who he signed for £100m. No idea who he brought through at Chelsea.

Well he managed two of the best premier league English players in Terry and Lampard :D I thought he had brought some through, but maybe not... He will have to at Spurs anyway, they ain't going to fund him like Roman did.

He never wanted Pogba though tbf, that was the board, commercial reasons.

That's kind of my point. We've held our identity in high esteem because we haven't had success. If Mourinho doesn't bring success and ruins our identity, what's left. We'd be London's answer to Aston villa.

lol if you read talksport then you'll believe absolutely anything.

Parames wrote it in the Portuguese newspaper, Record. Talksport are just passing the message on. It says that in the article

There is nothing wrong with Talksport actually.

Got anything more concrete to say Mourinho wanted him?

Keep believing that :) Honestly Mourinho should be a politician, he is the absolute master at presenting a narrative and people just fall for it.

Got anything to back it up though?

..and i'm not 100% either, doesn't bother me if he did want to sign him or not, i just remember that article.

Not sure why you are so emotional about it. You have a muggy attitude!

What's your source for saying otherwise?

Rofl, I don't need a source for saying otherwise. He literally took the job and 2 months later we signed Pogba. Do you think it didn't come up at all when he was taking the job? For some reason Mourinho is the only manager where people bend over backwards like you and Trusty to try and make excuses for him. it's really quite baffling.

It's a sad world when someone like Mourinho can fail so badly at his previous jobs, show what a negative and toxic person he is, be disliked by nearly every football fan, and can still get a new job for £8m a year.. when he deserves nothing.. world is crazy.

As a Utd fan I feel sorry for Spurs fans for having to deal with him.

@A2Z I wouldn't call 2 trophies in 3 years a failure. Plus United need to stop living off past glories, they are now a medicore club and miles away from city and Liverpool.

They guy is one of the best of all time and his record backs it up.

Yes you do to back up your claims against another person here who had a source.

You would fail miserably in court lol
