Square Enix DX12 Tech Demo running on Quad SLI TitanX

This video showing dx9 vs dx10. even now with todays hardware + all the mods, I don't think it looks as good as this video shows, there was another video somewhere but I cant seem to find it, it showed what crisis DX10 would look like, and its a lot better than it actually is.

If you have the game, go back and install it, crank up the settings in DX10 (64 bit if you can manage to make it work) and see that it looks better than in the comparison video. There is a lot of vegetation around, relatively close environment and that's why perhaps you perceive it as better looking. The palm trees and soldiers seem "flat" to me.

This one looks way better - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGgZfiSKoow

DirectX 12 Has The Fastest Adoption Since DirectX 9, Explicit Multiadapter Explained

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/direc...ce-directx-9-explicit-multiadapter-explained/

If you listen to the guy giving the presentation (17:35 min), he says it was used a quad sli Titan, at 4k then scale down to 1080p. Basically, 1-2 GTX980/970 should handle it just fine (give or take a few settings and perhaps not quite 8k texture for the hair though :p). Once we jump to a lower process, this should be mainstream performance for all.

You still don't get it

To get the image quality (or lack of) in the OP you need 4 TXs as that is what they used.:)

True, but I doubt any other game out there scaled down from 4k looks like that. Even at a native 1080 this should look great.

Anyway, probably the best news is that a lot of developers are working on this (dx12).

I wish people would stop saying "native" before 1080p like they're inseperable terms.

How do you figure something rendered at 4K on quad TXs will be fine on a 980?

"1-2 cards, give or take a few settings" .

1 TX in 4k does 42fps, 1 980 in 1080p does 86.5fps.

38 vs 86

52 vs 100

If the SLI scales good enough, you need more or less 2x TX at 4k to equal 1gtx980 at 1080p in fps. 4 TX should be close to 2 gtx980. Of course, things can change A LOT depending on lots of factors, including more optimizations that can make the game require less hardware . It's just a guess.

It was not fine on my quad TXs, it looked very poor in the video lol.

If they really wanted to do a demo they should have left it at 2160p and provided a video at that resolution.

4 TXs are = to 6 GTX 980s

Or putting it another way you need 1.5 GTX 980s @1080p or 4 TXs @2160p

does no one realise the following:

1. tech demo, early in development

2. Windows 10 (buggy at the moment)

3. Nvidia drivers on windows 10 are not where performance should be.

4. performance increases for live engine, for windows 10, for Nvidia drivers

5. No game will do what they did, might do one or two but not all tech features.

Impressive, loved the modelling of tears in close up.

Will probably run fine on AMD/Nvidia's next high end enthusiast part once the next die shrink has happened.
