Square Enix DX12 Tech Demo running on Quad SLI TitanX

I would hazard a guess its the Vram as much as anything else they are harnessing with that demo, looking at how detailed the gfx are.

Of course we do not know exactly what DX12 will and wont let you do, especially on a multi-gpu setup.

Rather than worry about the hardware its running on, why not just appreciate it for what it is? a highly detailed bit of animation.

They have more or less told us by virtue of the fact that they are using quad SLI.:)

Also to showcase something properly it is helpful if they give us all the facts like fps, resolution etc so we can get a clearer picture of how good something is.:)

Not necessarily, it could just be a case of using the best possible hardware to showcase a product. Doesn't mean it's needed.

On your 2nd point a showcase generally doesn't have those things, you're more likely to see that from reviews or benchmarks in the future.

I can see where you're coming from and DX12 is still going to be demanding but we've seen already from the 3dmark testing on Windows 10 that there's a huge increase in draw calls.

I remember hearing Brad Wardell from Stardock saying the hardware in the Xbone / PS4 is currently capable of producing Lord of the Rings helms deep levels of power, infact in excess of that, with DX12 behind it.

Considering a lot of people have even more powerful PC's, i think the future is really bright, this DX12 demo demonstrates just how beautiful they can make stuff look.

I think when we see these demos we need to change the way we think about them.

If a demo can not run on the fastest single GPU available @1080p then it is rather pointless as it proves nothing.

The vast majority of people game on single GPUs so that is where demos need to be aimed.:)

Yeah the textures and models look amazing but 4-way titanx sli is too much yo, i was hoping to see how dx12 helps your average gamer get lovely looking super smooth gameplay.

That demo is purely an ingame rendered cinematic anyhow, its not like the actual gameplay graphics, if you check Youtube theres tons of actual gameplay footage for the game and it looks nothing like that.

Obviously there are no DX12 gameplay videos currently as i think its only been released on ps4 in a demo format currently?

Nice looking pc :D

Seen too many tech demos to get excited about what new iterations of dx are meant to be capable of.

You are building a game for the coming years, of course you'll show it on what's best now and perhaps mainstream in 2-4 years.

Been using Win1 for a few weeks, theres a new release, the previous one wouldnt auto update on my PC without bluescreening, will try the newer one this weekend to see if it works.

I like it so far, took a little getting used to, i installed the AMD beta drivers over the included windows AMD Drivers which are supposedly DX12 versions.

Runs everything fine so far except a few motherboard apps from Gigabyte

Not all that blown away considering the amount off raw gpu power they have there they should be able to render some silly stuff @ 30fps
