SSD in my Mac Pro *updated with performance figures* (and video)

So intel still beats the Vertex 2E SSDs?

I'm getting closer and closer to buying an SSD next week for my new MBP. Want at least 100GB for around £220...

The Intel 160Gb is a stonking good disk tbh.

My current one will almost certainly end up in my MBP with a G3 Intel in my Mac Pro :)

The difference between the Intel 160gb and the Vertex 2 is negligible really from what i've seen using OS X Benchmarks, in Windows the V2 edges ahead but with the G2 160Gb going for the £200-230 range if you know where to look then there is no competition tbh.

Which model is it? I'm gonna buy one tomorrow I think. :P

Edit - if it's the X25-M then I can only seem to find the 160GB version for about £300. Although I'm gonna read up on the G3 now you've mentioned it.

G3 is H1 2011, so you've got abit of a wait.

And all I can say is bay of e.

Mine was brand new and sealed for £220.

OcUK need to sort out the pricing on the Intel G2 X25-M 160Gb, I didn't even have to barter for that price either.

Ah, I don't trust the bay at all, never have. I think I shall go for a 120GB Vertex 2E for £180. :)

My Vertex 2E arrived today. This is with a fresh install of the OS and then a time machine back up (which is from a 2 week old install).
Doesn't seem to be as fast as other peoples. :p

Is there anyway to check the firmware version without installing windows?

Edit - About this mac > more info > Serial ATA > Vertex 2 > revision number. Mine is indeed out of date...

Wow thats 'slow'.

Mines pulling ~310 now with quite a few things running and 2 month old install.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on. It's only a few hours old. Got it, put it in, formatted it as HFS+, installed snow leopard, restores a time machine backup (40GB) and grabbed the updates from apple...

Anyone got any idea to why some of our Vertex 2s are so slow?

Edit - I just did xbench two more times this evening. I got similar results as above and then I got this;

Inconsistant much?
