Ssd options

has anyone tried the Samsung data migration software looks kind of straight forward so all I have to do is clone my intel c drive to the Samsung which will then become my c ops drive and swap them out ,does it remove all data from the intel existing drive?

ive used it and it works well

no it won't wipe the intel drive, not sure if theres a box to tick to wipe original drive or not but don't tick it

Ok is it only transferable via USB ,
Also on another note how do you fix your ssd in your PC does it have any thing in the box to fit into tray bay etc

No you can connect both drives internally and clone that way

It doesn't come with a mounting bracket but some cases let you fit them in the hdd bay,or you can buy a bracket,I mounted mine to an unused fan grill,I lined up the holes and screwed it to that

Hopefully will arrive tomorrow I swapped the 840 for the pro 840 5year warranty appealed to me hope the above still applies and will try and fit the weekend

From what I've seen, Kingston HyperX are 555mbps read and 530mbps write speed, and pretty cheap at that. Not sure about its software or anything but I do know its one of the fastest ssd's on the market, other than the samsung pro's.

And if all else fails, there's good old fashioned cable ties !

Guilty as charged ! ;)

offer near pro performance as they have cache. it varies on drive size 250 (3gb) 1TB (12gb). The evo are replaceing the basic as samasung bottom tire. IT does have a new controller which really does give the pro a run for it money.

i want the 1Tb but prob only got enough dosh for the 250

Well I went for pro not just for speed but reliability 5 yrs guarantee ,and will have to wait for evo ,maybe in year or two ill get a larger version ?

are these the correct cables needed for the installation went for two sata into one molex in case of shortage of connectors on my psu (Christmas light cable) .

and I assume sata 2 due to mob configuration

The OCuK Value SATA-II 90CM Connection cable

Akasa 4pin Molex to 2 x SATA power Adapter (AK-CBPW01-30

You will not benefit from choosing the pro much in terms of speed (assuming you`ve bought the 256GB version), as your Sata 2 ports will limit the write speed to around that of the non pro.

You do get an extra two years guarantee though, and will benefit slightly if you upgrade your system to Sata 3.

Hello (again !).

You need to enter your motherboard BIOS settings and alter the HDD boot priority. Your existing boot drive needs to be abve the SSD in the list, probably 1st in the list.

When you`ve cloned to the SSD, you will have to go back to the BIOS and make sure the SSD is the priority hard drive.

It can be a bit confusing, depending on your BIOS, as you can also alter the boot device priority - USB, Floppy, Optical Drive, HDD etc. If you never want to boot from anything other than your SSD, you can set the first boot device as a hard drive, and make sure that your SSD is the first device in the hard drive list.

ok where in bios do I find this option also if I remember I have to make sure ssd set correctly ahci mode ,I haven't been in my bios for a while is still one of f numbers on boot up

Ok I've cloned I now have a system reserved f my old ssd boot drive is now disc G and the samsung drive is disc c back up has now become disc m ,what is system reserved ?,and can I now format my intel drive that used to be disc c
