The crash is going to be brutal.
I don't blame Nvidia - the PC enthusiast market doesn't have some divine right to a company serving it contrary to their own interest. Ironically I'm hoping the massive capital investment in chip/memory/storage production will eventually be net positive when the AI bubble pops.

ATM that is almost an unmeasured metric.
Now three big players are all valued at over $1 trillion but Samsung semi is far larger and diverse and so to a lesser extent is Hynix.
From DRAM it is something like 40% / 35% / 20% for Samsung/Hynix/Micron.
For NAND its 35%/25%/15%.
In both cases, Micron are way behind so unless they have a good roadmap, they seem the most overvalued.
The only plus that they have is possibly in a trade war Uncle Sam would do their bidding. Still, in normal times only a madman would even consider tarrifying either of the Koreans. Still "normal times"!
Wanted to upgrade my C Drive a few weeks ago as I had a slow drive fanxiang M.2 SSD - 256GB NVMe SSD PCIe Gen3 costing £25 around mid 2023.
On Nov 2023 I then purchased 2x Samsung 870 QVO 8 TB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) for £317 each
2x Seagate FireCuda 530, 4 TB internal SSD M.2 Gen4 x4 NVMe 7300 MB's for £218.99 each.
I should have got a faster C drive with the rest on Nov 2023 but forgot.

Guys/ladies Go watch "Samsung's SSD warranty policy scammed me so I'm taking them to court." on Louis Rossmann YouTube channel. Samsung sending back his faulty ssd as working and the comedy of Samsung events. I would post it here but he swears a lot in the video and not surprised at what Samsung did.

Scamsung "warranty" has not existed as anything other than wishful thinking for a very long time!

But they're advertised with a 5 year warranty, and some people might believe that actually means something.

Somewhat tangentially related, was reading Kernighan's Unix Memoirs and its hard not to shake the parallels to that era of computing, the classic tradeoff of time vs space, when making programs we've just thrown bits around like they cost nothing, and now they really do. it will be interesting how that influences newer software.
But as a digital hoarder, it's forcing some tough choices, and more generally as I spend a lot of time in the older reaches of the internet looking for old versions of 80s/90s software, the wackly old web/ftp/newsgroup/uunet! is disappearing very quickly now and storage costs are going to hasten that.

That's nothing, we have a couple of products at work with industrial SSDs in them, we had to renegotiate contracts with customers otherwise we would be losing out on each product sold.
In 2021 I bought this for £680!
My 990 Pro 2TB with heatsink is also £560 now whereas I paid £140 for it in 2023!
These are really big customers as well not just to us but on a global scale.
