just tried it on game pass and wow shocking performance, feels so sluggish.

ryzen 7800x3d
32 gig 6000 cl30 corsair vengeance
sapphire radeon pulse 7800xt

it defaulted to epic on all settings and i tried it on they settings with fsr off and wow, tried it with fsr on and massive fps boost but feels so laggy :(

will tweak my settings and give it a go another night then i might wait for a complete mod :)
 
Only had that 1 CTD in the 4.5 hours I've been playing though so not too bad. Eurogamer also have posted saying they will publish their review on Friday. they said GSC have told them a day 1 patch is due as well, so as we have not seen a post-launch patch yet, I guess that is still coming.

From up high the Nanite draw distance does shine with detail:

Yet going into a town area does see a fps drop it seems, probably because of NPC density. I see about 104fps in towns whereas it's 120~ anywhere else.

The software Lumen does show it's flaws though, so looking forward to the hardware Lumen update, in fact I am tempted to slow my progress until that update lands. When software Lumen does work though, it does look good, just with some jank as seen in other UE5 games, like the way shadows move across a sunlit surface looks like they are moving at 15fps instead of 60+ so these nee polishing.

I've only played about two hours so far and have been taking my time to get to grips with the options.
Trying it out on veteran, but if necessary, I hope you can lower the difficulty if the challenge proves too difficult.

Running it with a 3070 and 3900X @ 1440p.
Getting pretty good performance, in some instances over 100fps, so far with the following:

FSR 3 frame generation enabled;
DLSS on quality (IMO, DLSS looks the best when compared to FSR/XeSS);
Nvidia reflex low latency enabled;
sharpness set to 100;
currently have graphics settings set to high (not sure if/which ones I can nudge up to Epic yet);

Mapping the keys is proving to be a bit of a pain, though.
The few mutants I have fought went fine, though the flesh pigs seemed a bit spongy.
I don't think I've noticed any/hardly any frame stutter yet.

Is the ray tracing on by default? I can't see it specifically listed in the options.

took about 10 mins to get the gpu shaders as well, no joke on a nvme, this game is taking the pee.

think i have lost all interest in it tbh ill wait till its cheap and a complete mod comes out, had no stutering but felt like every time i went to use my mouse i was aiming through butter, even robo cop was better optimised

im starting to hate unreal engine 5 and i realise the country is at war but still their track record has toi get games fixed by the community with complete mods

Maybe it looks better in game but not really seeing anything in that screenshot which looks that great, flat lighting, foliage oddly lit showing the limitations, not a huge amount of detail in the far distance.
 
I see DLSS in the game is still struggling with small particles flying through the air with some horrible smearing against certain materials - albeit in this game doesn't really detract too much from the graphics given the visual theme of the game.
 
Performance:
It runs fine with DLSS quality on an 4080 and 7900X3D. Though a few times DLSS caused graphical corruption, FSR or XeSS fixed it. No stutter that I could detect. Graphics are fine, ranging from very good to very average.

It compiles shaders on every load. Might be to prevent the UE5 stutter.

Rebinds don’t work, so I have to use a XBOX controller as I am left handed. Numpad for some reason is used to move the camera view, even when rebound. This makes aiming a pain because fine control becomes problematic on a controller.

Gameplay:
It feel like STALKER. There are some janky quirks. Empty cardboard boxes and tin cans thrown at you by invisible enemies/ anomalies two shot you. They seem empty when I bump into them, not sure how they are so lethal.

Even on medium difficulty all enemies are bullet sponges, while you die in three or four shots. Yes an empty cardboard box or tin can hitting you causes more damage than assault rifle bullets. Turning it to the easy setting makes the game feel more realistic, a few hits and you and them are done. But like the original don’t expect to be taking on groups without decent cover.

Despite these issues I am very much getting original STALKER vibes and that is a good thing. I am not disappointed so far and if the bugs are ironed out, it’s going to be every STALKER fans dream.
Finally found a left-handed brother who goes through the same pain haha. People don't realise the struggle gaming is true left handed haha :D
 
just finished shader compilation, didn't take long on the 7950x - 1 or 2 minutes but it did smash the CPU in that time: 97% utilization, 235watts, 92c
