Stalker 2

Thought i would try this now 2.0 has been released.

Might have been spolt coming from Crimson Desert but not impressed with the visuals. Tried Ultra+ and a few different reshades but it still looks a bit meh. RTX HDR seems a bit better than in game HDR.

The world textures seem really poor, and the mutant/animal models and animations don't look like they have improved much from the original series.

I am getting into the game though as I really enjoyed the originals. Shame it doesn't have the eye candy to go with it.

Lighting is definitely better than before, as there is actual global illumination now, but there are areas of the lighting that are still very flaky, as well as shadows.

Which doesn't really work. Sitting in a pitch black room, with 2 side windows, daylight outside... that's no GI. For the outside is better (still not right yet), but inside lighting is really, really bad. The modded version that I've played on the older version I think it looked better.
Adding Metro to the mix or Body Cam... Stalker 2 falls way, way behind in many areas.

Played a bit more... 300hrs+ on the old version(s) and mods vs. now:
-Ballistics is still trash. An AK being weaker than PTM, although the AKM has around 5x the muzzle energy of the pistol is insane. Same for the M platform.
-Enemies/NPCs are bullet sponges, still.
-AI?... Well, they sit and play the guitar with dead bodies next to them while I shoot at blood suckers... some spawn back way to quickly.
-Artificial scarcity economy is still there, hurting the immersion, making all those pew-pew trailers basically a lie, since that isn't the usual gameplay.
-Jumping / climbing is ridiculously dumb down as well.

I'm in no mood to buy the expansion. It doesn't worth it, maybe for something less than 10 euros for ol' times sakes.

SO I was just playing and I really don't understand. I've seen GI look amazing in some games but this is so flat and barely noticable. Am I doing something wrong, all my settings are EPIC.

Then I was inside and I saw sunlight streaming in, looked lovely then I went outside and flat and boring....eh?

Make sure brightness is set to 50% and other settings aren't messed up or if you're using mods, delete / uninstall them.
You're also getting a cloudy weather which makes things flatter.
Game is looking superb after tonight's patch. They've fixed the lighting.

Yes, it's a perfect pitch black room!

Did you let the game rebuild its shaders? Everything looks perfect my end during 4 hours play last night.

I use an LGC2 48 inch as my PC display and I've discovered that the settings on my TV were way off, no idea why. I used ChapGpt to set things up properly and it's much better now, I also changed the weather to sunny and it pops. User error lol, all is groovy now.

I can't see how TV/monitor settings could be responsible for what was shown in your second video above.

Strong direct light while indoors and a sudden complete absence of it outside is definitely something wrong with the game.
