Stalker any good

It's good but very strange. Not to mention to get money you need to sell weapons etc but if you carry too many you get overloaded and walk like a slug. The only place you can sell weapons is to the 'trader' wh is always about 20 minutes walk away from where you are.....

Gets tedious fast.

Lots of potential but badly done.
You can sell at the trader in the Cordon, to the scientist in the bunker at Yantar or to the Barkeep, and you can sprint (why are you walking? there's a sprint key) from anywhere in the game back to the bar in under ten minutes. In fact I reckon I could get from the stadium in Pripyat to the trader in the Cordon in under 15 minutes. As someone mentioned above you need to use stamina artifacts (2 will do), and to keep your weight under 50kg.

Hmm never found any stamina artifacts, might start playing it again once I finish crysis. I did like the rpg element to it. I got it free with my graphics card so I can't really complain!

Gets annoying travelling around if you buy the Exoskeleton suit though ;). You can take so much damage, but not sprint at all. Dead usefull at the end of the game though for all the combat.

Bring on Clear Skys in August (prequal).

I thought Stalker was superb, excellent atmosphere.

It was a shame that the patch wiped out my save games but I actually enjoyed replaying it!

While talking about prequals I am also looking forward to the Bioshock one.

I hope to see more games (other than other Stalker games) with a similar atmosphere.
Its so refreshing not hearing a single western accent throughout the whole game. Was probably the thing that made the atmosphere what it is.
Just wish I understood Russian as some of the conversations you over hear are apparently very interesting, along with allegedly some Very rude jokes.

It is wierd, you get jobs to do, sort of like oblivion. For some reason i could never manage to hit anyone with a gun. Some people say the game is good,I think its average. HL2 and bioshock are miles better:)

I thought that was just me lol, I could not kill anyone and didnt like the Oblivion type walking aobut talking/picking up items.

I thought it was brilliant and thoroughly enjoyed it, could spend ages wondering around. Great fun to play and very eery too.

Do pay attention though, read the logs and things like that - because otherwise you can miss pretty important set-pieces and advantages :)

Was thinking of installing this again now its been patched a bit more. Bought it when it came out but hit a game breaking bug that just crashed it to desktop after I'd played about halfway through!

Are there any decent little mods for it that improve the gameplay or anything? :)

I played it for a few hours, but I couldn't get into it.

The weapon accuracy was painful (I'm sure it improves as you become more skilled, but still), and after the fourth "game crashes, and last savegame not recognised" incident I just uninstalled it.

Great concept, but too ambitious a project for a team of that size.

i had the same problems when it was released. i dont now its patched up:)

There's some AMAZING mods out for it now apparently, especially the weather patches and such. I'm going to look about.

Ta, i think the weather patch is official, think it's realistic weather or something, just something i spotted. I'll install it when i free up some space, it asks for 10GB! I try to keep games on my 75Gb raptor because it's faster.

I used to do that but ended up moving to a small raid array instead. Noticeably slower, sadly :/ Nice to not be so limited for space though.
