Stalker Call of Pripyat Complete Mod

This looks ace.

Are the first 2 games in the series worth a play through? I'm thinking about the storyline?

You don't need to necessarily play the other two to understand the storyline but this game is a sequel to Shadow of Chernobyl. Furthermore I would recommend playing Shadow of Chernobyl (Complete mod) being my favourite of the series. Imo Clear skys was the weakest of the series I haven't even played through that again.

works fine for me but it takes bloody ages to first load the game. im talking minutes before i can actually do anything. looks great though.

I havent had time to play much so the most fun ive had so far is using the wish granter to spawn weapons and **** loads of mutants :D

ps didnt like clear sky either :p

lies, it looks the best has the upgrades/artefact mechanics of CoP but without marking them on maps but instead hiding them around.

and it doesn't have the annoying cop, thing of the game being pretty much lifeless.

Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky both great, agree Clear Sky had the edge though.

Haven't played COP yet, own a copy though, so with this complete mod now complete I'll be able to get on and complete it.

I thought The first game was better then ClearSky, but it could be because I played it first, so experienced the zone for the first time.

Glad to hear the third game is up to scratch though, can't wait to play it!

+1
Pretty much how I felt. I played SOC and haven't been as wowed by a game since Deus Ex. Then I played CS shortly after and thought the experience was so very nearly as good, just shows how good CS is, and yes, the graphics are imo the best of the three (mods aside, of course). Can't think of a series I have enjoyed so much.

I didn't really like the faction fight part of the game in Clear Sky especially with the AI being particularly bad. For example, trying to wipe out the Duty was impossible as they would always respawn.

Never played Clear Sky... its never on offer on Steam for some reason.

I really can't say if this mod is having any effect what-so-ever. I can't really remember it clearly since i played it that long and my graphics aren't spectacular and i already had the AtmosFear mod installed to begin with (wonder if thats causing any problems since it came with it too...) which makes the emissions look epic as usual. Decided to play it on Master focusing on using the TOZ-34 Hunting Shotgun, but its kind annoying when you blast things square in the chest with both barrels and it keeps on coming at you (damn Bloodsuckers).

Am doing the same currently - well playing on master that is and it's tough going all right - most things take a lot longer to go down even with, as you say, a shotgun blast at close range.

Enjoying it though and look forward to getting further and nabbing some better armour etc

I think the problem with the game is the pacing. Its really easy to get cash even in the first area (i've given Pilot the maps but still wandering for now), handed over the Basic and Fine Tools to upgrade things, came across a Veles Detector somewhere which will make anomolies completely trivial to avoid, then its just a matter of paying a premium to the guy in Skadovsk for some gear. 40k for an armour suit? That'll do me, just need to save up another 10k but that won't be hard with the new detector. Other than the only thing left in the area is the massive underground anomoly near the Farmstead and the Waste Plant that i need to infiltrate/blast my way through.

Yeah, when I wipe out the Bandits in the Garbage it'd be nice if the Loners set-up and kept camp in that main building.

As for my picks... hmmm... SoC > CS > CoP (played them in that order). The original gets my top spot simply for laying the foundation, being the first I played and was blown away by, as well as me preferring the story of it over the others'. However, CS is indeed the better 'game' for its improvements, but overall a very close second. ...If any of that makes sense.

i'm playing this for the first time. Is there anything wrong with just killing the other stalkers and looting their bodies or will i regret it later on or miss out on some story lines?

I'm not sure if its the same as CS with factions, but if you kill too many members of a faction they will become your enemy.

I always tend to stick with the Stalkers and kill the bandits.

Yea, I remember this one mission in SoC where you had to assassinate some Duty guy at their main base in the middle of the map (the one with the big trader in the bar underground) and it was nigh on impossible to do because as soon as you fired on him or even knifed him they all turned on you - even if you followed him to a quiet area where no one could possibly see you kill him!

I'm sure the same dynamic plays through all the games - it's best to stick to the stalkers side and see what comes your way later on - Monolith etc are all enemies from the off.

Reminds me of the time Oblivion Lost spawned 2 Controllers in the big city (forgot its name now...) after an emission. They wrecked havoc to an insane degree, all the stalkers guarding the side they came in from wound up as zombies and they pretty much tore the place up on the surface and killed half of Duty.

But anyway... i'm sticking with the Stalkers too. Shot the guys on the quest Sultan gives you in the back and occasionally when i come across Bandits in the open i decide to just empty both barrels of the TOZ at them in a line and kill 2 and cause the 3rd to fall next to death :p

Cheers Tommy, will this degrade the graphics in terms of quality at all and will I be able to play the game maxed out on DX11? At work at the moment so will try when I get back.
