STALKER: Call of Pripyat

I just finished Clear Sky. Bit of a dodgy ending! I think im about to enter some scary catacombs after the hospital but i end up on the end map with a couple of uber guns that apear from nowhere and eventually find my target standing still behind a building.

I think the middle bit is the only good bit of Clear Sky, the start is a bit boring and the end is just botched. The middle was worth what i paid for it though!
Thinking about getting the first one again and playing it with the complete mod... Call of Pip has definatally got me back into it.

I know I can go back to Yanov when I first get to Pripyat ;)

I mean am I just stuck in Pripyat once I say I dont want to get on the chopper or can I get back to resupply and things. I rushed Pripyat a bit so wanted to explore more.
 
Just installed this, and every other time I start the game, it just comes up as a small, borderless window on the desktop, but can still navigate menus etc. ALT+TAB goes to full screen :confused:
 
Just noticed the promo offer on Steam if you already own a Stalker game. Grabbed it - should be fun :)

Any good mods out there?

Edit: Anyone know why I keep losing all of the sound channels except the center one as soon as I get into the game?

Has anyone seen a mod to repopulate CoP?

Really like the way this game played, more so than the other two. Its just that there is nothing left to do except make money, i want to go hunting!
 
Just finished Metro 2033 and i thought it was a great game. Been looking at S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat for a while and was wondering as i have not played the first 2 will i be lost if i just play the latest ?

No. Or at least, no more lost than you would be if you had. There is a bit of a learning curve with any of them but Pripyat has a much more informative UI (ie hovering on a gun highlights the bullets that go with it, shows you how it compares to your current one in different areas etc).
I'm playing through Metro 2033 at the moment. Be aware the two are very different. For me, Pripyat is much the stronger but it's down to personal taste.
Best tip for the very beginning of Pripyat when you have the crappy AK with no upgrades - I put it to single shot mode so I could actually hit anything.
 
Cheers for the reply. I have purchased call of pripyat and will give it a go tonight.

I did have 5 minutes look at it last night and it seems a lot more in depth and as you say, a lot different to Metro 2033.
 
When the first stalker game was released my PC wasn't good enough to make it run at a playable level. After I got a better PC I never returned to play stalker or it's sequel.

Would it be worth going back to the first stalker and playing through them in order or should I just pick up the 3rd one?

Definitely play Shadow of Chernobyl! :eek::eek: Brilliant game..also grab the 2009 Complete mod for it to make it even better :D

Dunno about clear sky, still havent got around to playing it (*facepalm*), but I'm the type to play them in release order :p
 
I think mods for stalkeR make the game a lot better. I've done all three stalker games and like bits from all of them. At the moment trying this English translation of this russian mod. It's supposed to be sik.
 
Erm i picked up a laptop in stalker and i cannot get rid of it from my inventory, what am i to do with it ?
