STALKER: Call of Pripyat

Notice on top of the pipe, around the cranes bucket, and also the telegraph wires just next to it, its like they are all rippling, like being melted lol, well odd, just happens in that space, and if i run sideways, so objects pass over that bit, they start melting/rippling to, for example that boxed girded leg under the pipe to the right of the bucket, if i run sideaways, so that that goes infront of the ripply/melty bit, then that will start doing it to, but if i turn around to look the opposite way, its all fine, its like that one bit of the game world is melting/rippling, and anything that passes infront of it (i.e getting into that space), will do it to.

There's a psy anomaly behind it (probably the huge scar anomaly).

the up and down distortion reaching high into the sky is the psy one :)

I played the first stalker game right the way through, however the second one i got fed up with. I was thinking about trying Clear Sky again but then i remembered why i stopped playing it.
I remembered it playing like a base capture game, like Unreal Tournment but with bots. Having to capture each base before getting the go ahead to move to the next map.
Am i right in remembering it like that? Is this new stalker game like that as well or does it play more like the original.. a SP story not an off line base capture game.

Yeah Clear Sky did have that (to start off with at least). This one doesnt have it at all thank god :)

There's a distortion field in the background. You can see it stretching from the group upwards in a rippling effect. It's supposed to be there, it's part of the crazyness happening within the zone!

Ahh right, thanks guys, just seemed weird as id never noticed it before lol, what a div :D

Didn't think Steam had listed it yet. Anyway...

Amazon is about the cheapest - £17.73 inc Free Postage.

Where I'll get it from.

I was mistaken about the Steam price. I wonder why they dont have it up yet, i was sure i saw an advert on their site for it... maybe i was wrong.

Only the first part of the game was like this, was more like a training level just to get you used to travelling to objectives, gunfights etc.

Rest of the game is nothing like it :)

did anyone else know you can have any weapon in the 2/3 slot not just a main gun and a pistol >.<

Never knew that now i've got my unique "tide" vintar and a shottie :D

a lot of people slating Clear Sky on here:confused: I thought it was a great game as was the first, currently playing through the first again with the 2009 mod, will get hold of Pripyat afterwards.

You can't beat the haunting atmosphere of the Stalker Zone! One of gamings most tense and immersive environments imo, long may it live!;)

Is there a website that lists what weapons are best in each catagory and what add-ons can go on what weapons?

I tried to add a silencer to a G36 and a scope to several weapons but don't know how

Some weapons will take a scilencer by default others you have to go to the mechanic guy and it will have an option to put a barrel thread on for the silencer.

Some weapons have integral ones and some cannot take one at all.

The best weapons you're going to get are the named ones from nimble iirc.

I've decided to skip an assault rifle tbh tried and you ghet destroyed by mutands especially if you make it acurate and slow for mid range sniping.

But if you make it fast for mutants you still get screwed by large numbers and you then need a sniper rifle for range.

Personally I've found a heavily modified custom vintorez silent sniper (got from nimble specially designed for killing zombies so high damage but lowered ROF) then modded it my self more. Put that in the first slot.

Then a custom striker 12 (can't remember what it's called in game) set up for speed (full auto) and recoil reduction and it takes a susat sight by default so got that for anything that gets too close.

Don't bother with a pistol waste of weight.

I'm also trying to go completly chemical for my meds, using that chemical coagulant stuff insted of bandages (got +2 wound regen on armour so minor ones fix themselves and a +6 health regen artifact), only carry 5 of eahc type of med suit and then a but of that herculies stuff for loot runs.

removing my suit and helt (so they don't get damaged) and taking the +150 chemical protection when i need to go in chemical/gass.

Oh sort of an exploit but save before you make an order with nimble, then make the order go sleep and come back for it, as he has a bout 3 of each category and what you get is random you can just reload and remake the order if it's not the one you wanted.)

oh also when you are upgrading a wepon and you have a branch (choice between 2 for one component) then one after each of the branches, unlike CS you don't need to follow it, on the second branch you can chose the other side (ie the one after the upgrade you chose not to use)

oh and when upgrading with the first guy give him 2 bottles of vodka before you ask for any repairs or upgrades, you get quite a discount.

give him 3 and he'll passout.

Anyone else found their quicksave key takes a battering? :o

I was ninjaing through the Jupiter plant and was saving every 5 steps or so and silent walking the whole way utterly paranoid >.<

of course the silence was broken every 10 stps when the lighting cast a shadow and made me unload half a shotie drum in full auto at a bucket :o

Surely thats a bug? Doesn't make sense if you have an upgrade tree you don't even need to follow

it's just the layout I think I've only noticed it when i could do a t 3 upgrade on one part of my armour, so not sure if it;s 100% on weapons but as soon as i get the 3rd tool kits I'll test it properly :)

I remember the Vintorez from earlier games, I used that quite a lot, also a SVD

I am just at the beginning so don't really know where and how to upgrade yet, is it just a case of paying someone and choosing an upgrade?

pretty much go speak to the technician in the back room at skadostov (sp?) the big boat where the bar keep etc is.

You have to get them tools first though, once you've got that quest just ask stalkers and they'll tell you where you'll probably find them
