US: Star Trek: Discovery

Episode 3 again was alright....
I guess we are gonna go to.....
Vulcan
Romulus
Kronos
In no particular order....

Meh whatever. It's still better than se1 and 2 but it's like warm garbage really.

Oh cliché trill character that is a weak girl but really an Oldman... Yay.
They could have gone for a strong muscular guy that was a total gay inside. Pack in some more rainbow points.

At least the mandalorian is back too, phew

Or they could just have a normal bloke who likes going out with his mates once in a wheel and sorts his normal family out. Heaven forbid.

I actually didn't mind this episode, it was better than previous.

I did notice that but then \o/ maybe trill personalities are just different like that with all their hosts? He didn't sound like that when he was talking in her memories lol.
Oh apparently the trill host is a transgender actor/ress.

Lol I don't even care or notice thought it was just normal and stereotypical.

I switched off just over half way into episode 4... it's so boring. Some of the storyline feels like its been produced by the Wachowski sisters

i've quite enjoyed this series so far. it's not brilliant, but it's not Season 1 either.

Although, what the **** was going on with the computer when Saru was talking to it? Sphere information ? Are we going to see the Discovery's computer slowly go nuts and try to murder the entire galaxy?

I dont mind that episode because it's actually drawing on more "real" startrek than the other 2 series.

I'm liking saru more, even tbh, all of them are tolerable now.

Whatever, I'm sure next week I'll be facepalming about something else.

The computer and the captains dinner was the best thing. I lose all interest in magical mystical caves of water sports... what complete and utter tosh.

EPS5 is out and Burnham is already trying to save the day. That is after we’re treated to Indian soap facial reactions at every moment.

Watch the intro VERY SLOWLY.

Georgiou is chatting to some old geezer who looks terribly familiar and he is brilliant. They both play off each other so well. He is getting to her on a mental level and I think there’s more to him then what we see right now.

Ok so everyone’s hearing the same music including Burnham. I am assuming that Burnham’s mother has left some sort of breadcrumb trail somehow.

Ok. No spoilers given here really but I’d say that was a solid 8.5/10. I actually enjoyed quite a few moments and those bits deserve a rewatch. There is a lot going on in this episode so pay attention!

I’m off to find out who that old geezer is because he is so well voiced and I know him.

For me Discovery is like witnessing a train wreck, its disturbing yet you can't look away. Only it lacks any excitement.

You'd think after a thousand years, warp apocalypse aside, technology would have moved on significantly. But no, alas it seems like Star Wars we get another technologically stagnant universe, only this one lacks charm for me. Did they forget about slipstream tech as a mode of travel?

My biggest problem with this though is that it just isn't Star Trek. Aside from the fact they stole some poor sods idea and show horned it into the Star Trek brand the main reason it's not working is the fact it's not about the ship/crew as the others have been. It's all about MichaelProgressiveForProggressivesSakeManNamedFemaleFlashGordonSaviourOfTheUniverseTimeLordQueen.

Every episode sees the single main character as the saviour and that's just not star trek.

The more I think of discoball, the more I think I should either just forget viewing it on a weekly basis and binge the whole lot in one go at the end - or just give it up. When I glance at the trek subreddit, I see people claiming it is the best trek, and crying in tears at the sight of starfleet. I just don't feel that way at all. I am sick of Burnham being the main focii on every damn episode.

Give the crew some development. Uwuwuuu, Detmer, budget Harry Kim and that other chap Bryce or whatever his name is. Hell give blondie the chair since we're force fed her face at every bridge shot for some reason.

I get the impression that much of the research that drove technology forward was Starfleet funded and researched. When they crashed and burned there was very little. And without Warp people fell back on tried and tested, reliable and easy to maintain and repair technology.

I am actually enjoying this season... yes it's cheesy idealistic sci-fi trope with lots of political correctness thrown in there, but its also strangely heart-warming and I am really starting to like Saroo. Tilly is also far less annoying this season.

Also, the special effects... wtf... I think that they are amazing for a TV show and more like you would see on a big budget movie.

Is there any reason you aren't using spoiler tags for new episodes despite seemingly being aware that you are giving some (minor) spoilers? :p
