Star Trek general discussion (series, films, rumours)

That's awesome! What did you see him in?

First was an obscure play called Johnson over Jordan in 2001, where when you arrived in the the theatre to sit down, he was already laid on a slab in the midst of the where you were to sit, acting dead. So he laid there for a good 30 minutes after the doors opened and before the play actually started while everyone was finding their seats.
Second was another obscure play called A Life in the Theatre in 2005
Third was Macbeth in 2007, awesome as you would expect.
Fourth was Waiting for Godot in 2009 with Ian McKellan, oh and Simon Callow
Fifth was him in Hamlet playing Hamlet's father/Ghost, and David Tennant playing Hamlet, in 2009

The Hamlet one was notable as the play required the actors to walk on and off via a pathway from the front of the stage to the back of the theatre, basically through the audience, and we had our seats right next to this path at the very back. So there was one point in the play where Patrick Stewart was waiting to come back on via this pathway, and so he was literally standing there within touching distance for like 5 minutes. That was pretty memorable.

Started S6.

Times Arrow Pt 2 - nice to see the crew off the bridge and doing some timey wimey stuff.

Realm of Fear - Broccoli is annoying and so out of place as a Starfleet officer. But it's Murdoch!

Man of the People - Deanna got horny.

Relics - right in the feels for Scotty. Great episode.

I been watching lower decks at work, yes I work that hard, and Must admit I actually quite like it. The first episodes were a bit jarring but once I got into the characters I've warmed to it.
Yes it's extremely OTT and never takes it self too serious but it's fine.

S6 Ep 9 Quality of Life. Data leaves stranded and facing death, the Captain and Geordi because he thinks a couple of service robots are sentient (exocomps).

No idea how the crew kept a straight face when dealing with and talking about what looks like a food mixer with Xmas lights. But the premise behind the episode was interesting.

S6

Ship in a bottle. Moriarity is back! Trickery and double trickery - very fun episode.

Aquiel - really good premise, but as soon as they introduced the changeling/parasite enemy, i was screaming, "it's the dog!!!". I can't recall over the 6 season them seeing a dog, so it was annoying they took it into their personal rooms. Also, wouldn't the transporter have picked up the alien life?

Of course, the episode would have been over if they had identified this earlier on, so mustn't grumble :)

Had the pleasure of meeting Marina Sirtis at the weekend, what a lovely lady she is.

I ended up bindgewatching some TNG yesterday. It's still my favourite Star Trek series by a country mile.

That is awesome! Any pics, autograph? Did you have time to chat? Slip her your................number?

Myself and my daughter had our photo taken with her, I also got her to sign my TNG print.

Saw her at Bournemouth comi-con this weekend just gone. She's in Cardiff next month, very chatty and happy to answer my long list of questions. :D

Face of the Enemy - Troi is kidnapped by the Romulans to help with a dissident movement plan. This was good!

Tapestry - Picard nearly dies and Q is there waiting for him! Q takes Picard back to when a life changing decision was made and how his life would have turned out if he hadn't been stabbed as a cadet. Very, very cool episode.

so whats your thoughts on section 31 ?

Just about the most boring story arc in DS9, that was then transplanted into the rest of Trek for reasons escaping my understanding. If they do eventually make that S31 project I won't be watching it.

and cpt 7of 9 ?? good to see something new coming out now whether its any good only time will tell .

I'd watch the hell out of a ST: Legacy show with Seven et al. on the Titanprise-G. As long as Terry Matalas is running the show rather than Kurtzman.

I liked the arc, in DS9.

Why? Some good acting and Dr Bashir was taken out of his comfort zone. Which was refreshing.

Also, I enjoy the concept that Section 31 introduced, that the Federation was not a black and white organisation, that it had shades of grey.

And you didn't think that Sisko's actions in "In The Pale Moonlight" showed how pointlessly redundant Section 31 are? ;)
Not really, that was an example of how the Federation at the brink, abandoned its morals even further. Even officers of the line.

Besides, it is a TV show with over 20 episodes, per season. The writers liked to explore facets of each character, Bashir and Sisko.
