Gah tried the crystal entity tonight and it is impossible in every sense of the word! They removed the ram ability and it just perma heals itself over and over due to the shards and the fact that it is almost a raid event that lets in lt. commanders.

How much did you actually spend/use to access that. It just doesn't seem worth it when most of the gear is temporary while levelling - then from level 43 onwards from a few daily exploration missions you can get purple Mk X gear. Hell, even 5th order exploration badges give you better stuff than that. Hopefully they have a 4th or 5th tier at hand - and dont make it so difficult to unlock them. So can you now access all of the people in memory alpha?

Tried to do starbase 24 last night but it kept crashing to desktop and the cyriptic crash report util thing popping up. :(

Is this because of my ATI card? Did you guys say you turned some features off and it fixed it?

Supposedly the number of light sources cause havoc on ATi cards.
Leave it at 2 as opposed to 5 (assuming you have turned it up).

Yes, has fixed it for many of us - annoyingly, perforamance for me is much better with 5 lights in space. So whenever I do an away mission I have to turn it down. Hasn't crashed since I found this fix.
 
I have just bought it but hear there is a 2gb patch to install? Is this correct? Is there a way to download the patch BEFORE installing it so I can get prepared then just install it rather than waiting hours for it to download (1mb connection!)

I have no idea what the size of the patch is from retail to current. I doubt it's 2gb though. You need to install first before patching anyway.
 
I stopped playing after open beta, same crap over and over, boring.

And this coming from old Eve-Online player, who happens to be a huge Star Trek fan, but this game sucks and theres no way i'd pay monthly fees for this.
