Just asked a mate who has it and the patch is 1.1gb from retail so not too massive. Seems you can't download the patch outside the game but you can copy the install folder (whole thing) to a new PC and it just works so thats what the STO forums are recommending to people!

Got my first escort last night. Very nice indeed :D
 
As far as T2 ships go I prefer the escort to the science or the cruiser in terms of playstyle. However I have to admit the Science ships just look so damn cool.

Trails keys, seem to be from the boxed version of the collectors edition from reading that info..anyway still the first time ive heard of them and judging by some of the comments its the same for a few other people lol.

Yes, there is no doubt the game is still slightly buggy and a little messy - but it is a lot of fun and the recent content patch was quite re-assuring...I also like that the lag has gone, finally!

sol and starbase 24 are totally unplayable in space for me the controls can be buggy too. some of the punctuation is hilarious and bloody confusing but overall i like it a lot :)

I cant get on with escort ships at all, I find them very boring.

I just got promoted to commander this morning and bought a science ship and Heavy cruiser.
I tend to swap between the ships every coupld of hours of play time, as some missions do suit different ships.
 
well iv just bought a cruiser to go with the escort il have a play at various missions with them.
2 reasons i bought a cruiser are they look cool lol and some missions if theres a lot of big ships after me the escort doesnt live very long im suprised at how tough it is but theres a limit
