That's why this is the "beta". By the time the game is actually released, they'll know exactly what type of demand to expect and have prepared.

Really, "open beta" is just another term for "load testing".

Back in the golden age of MMOs over 10 years ago, thats precisely what they were called, load tests or stress tests. The term Open Beta is a lot more marketable these days though.

might be my imagination but login and charachter retrieval is quicker and so is the map is full message - not sure thats a good thing or bad LOL

For anyone getting low download speeds of the game, use one of the links mart has given. The launcher is currently grabbing all the files needed and so far appears to be maxing my line where as the torrent was about 100kbs if i was lucky.

I got into the game and was doing the tutorial when my character vanished from the game after a cutscene :X

And then I got d/c'd.

Its only just barely afternoon in the US (and still morning on the west coast), god knows whats going to happen when all the yanks log in after coming home from work/school !
