got to commander and have my new ship, must admit it is starting to feel a bit samey... We need dynamic gameplay like free for all pvp in the neutral zone sectors or enemy space or perhaps player starbases

When did you pre order.

This weekend is the last part of Open beta. Sunday night/Monday morning, open Beta will end. ready for Head start on the 29th Jan (think thats the right day).

I'm not sure their giving out keys now, the product description doesn't mention it on hmv anymore.

Yes, I think it is only digital retailers still giving them out now e.g. Steam and D2D.

Not sure I know the rain forest people had a deadline to order to get the pre order. (was the 7th Jan).

Word of warning on steam, they take your money as soon as you preorder so you cannot cancel... I dont know what D2D does. Ofc that doesnt matter to you as your going for the 12 month sub.

You can cancel steam pre-orders if you contact their support.

If I preorder the game through steam, can I still use the game without steam (cryptics own launcher) ? and also how does the game get applied to your cryptic account ? . Im hopeing steam just gives a keycode i can entire on the cryptic site since i have an account for the beta already.

Yep. Steam will just give you a keycode to enter into your STO account. You will then run the game through the Cryptic launcher, not Steam.
