Anyway, yeah, good episode.
Really hoping the 21st century time travel story doesn't go down the predictable path of smashing us in the face with The Message at every turn.

Well that was the dogs gonads!

Didn't like romulan chick cosying up to Picard, felt creepy from him and her a gold digger after his chateau - lol.

Guinan - when Picard first transported in, he was looking at the address, camera lingered and the music changed, were we meant to recognise any of this? Any list of Easter eggs yet?

Rafi - not much of her which is a great thing, but does she have a tic or something? Everytime she sees or speaks to Picard, she has to wink at him - very annoying!

Borg - Queen was cool AF, very sinister.

Q - very cool and love the quick age and explanation!

I thought season 1 ep1, we were in for some great Trek - that quickly went down the pan, but fingers crossed s2 keeps up with this level of writing.
Didn't you notice the name of her bar? That was a big Easter egg. Named after the bar on Enterprise D.

Why is it Writers can never come up with something unique or different and always re-tread the same old ground? I've lost count of how many times Star Trek has decided to use the same mechanic or plot device.

Because sometimes it's better to go with a theme proven to work than trying something new that could nose dive drastically. Time travelling in the past has led to some good episodes and movies so no reason not to do it really.

They’d get slated (and have done) for doing something new… so they travel the well-trodden path.

Ironic really that some complain that he’s back on a federation ship fighting the Borg with a cameo from Q! That’s literally the best bits of TNG.

The premise of starfleet using modified borg tech on their ships is more than a little hokey it has to be said. It's like leaving a wide open back door for it to be controlled by the borg again, which it was. Yet this somehow didn't affect self destruct which is a warp core overload, despite that being an area where the borg are well ahead of starfleet. Cue Q coming in to intervene in the death of Picard and setting another series of events into motion.

A borg virus affecting non borg modified shops would have been a bit more palatable rather than the modified borg tech plot point.

It's nonsense. Modified borg tech? You'd think starfleet would have been smart enough to at least ask the question could this be sabotaged by the Borg? But nope, nothing....

Just another stoopid contrived plot device we've come to expect from KurtzmanTrek.

Hang on, if the Stargazer was the first federation ship to have Borg tech (salvaged from the captured cube no less), what the hell happened to all the stuff Janeway brought back with her from the Delta quadrant!

Voyagers database surely would have had a few little gems from the 29th Century? and whatever Admiral Janeway gave them in the finale (which is probably around the early 25th Century).

Maybe a simple fix of the script

"The USS Stargazer is the most advanced ship in the fleet, and the second after USS Janeway to contain Borg technology"

They did name a ship after her right?

She says that the "Stargazer is a new class of ship, it utilizes components derived from Borg technology researched on the Borg cube artifact."

No mention of it being the first ship to contain or have Borg tech onboard, if it's the first ship of it's class then that line is correct, I would imagine it's not been used in the previous 20odd years on other ships due to the perceived risk in using tech that could be dangerous.

Well technically Voyager would have been first ship to have borg tech in it surely?

Seven used some borg tech to enhance it, sensors and it had some armour later that was part borg

Yeah i think they were trying to say it was the first ship developed using borg tech, can't remember exactly how it was worded...badly, probably :p

There was no mention of it being the first of anything, simply that it's a new class of ship & some of it's components use borg technology.

My phone is a new model phone & uses an AMOLED display. That does not mean it's the first phone to contain an AMOLED display.
