Discovery had some good visual effects, and Anson Mount and Jason Isaacs were stand out actors. Unfortunately the rest of the show was hung on an unlikeable character, played by a mediocre actress, and far too much drama as it's easier and cheaper to make than sci-fi.

I like all the characters, except Michael. Saru has some brilliant character development, Tilly is really likeable (to me, ymmv) and not just 'cos Mary Wiseman is very pretty. Georgiou is just a lot of fun to watch.

But Michael, you just can't like her. The character is annoying, and shallow. Sonequa is a mediocre actor, which I could forgive since every Trek has to have its bad actor, but she's been acting alongside Jason Isaacs, which just makes her stick out even more.

I do feel he slightly sullied himself with that incident with James Corden. I know they made up afterwards but it showed he can be a bit of a whatsit.
