Star Trek: Picard

There's a lot of serious talk that STD only stayed around because that was the only original thing (and only new Trek) they had to drive subscriptions to their CBS streaming service. Once Picard is a success, STD will get canned.

STD's have a habit of sticking around. :o

Yeah Mrs and I will definitely be continuing to watch so far. Didn't mind discovery too, currently on season 5 rewatching deep space 9.aka cheers in space.

Just watched it again with the Mrs after pretty much forcing her to sit through the TNG films as otherwise I knew she'd not have a clue who people are & likely have no interest in it. I think some of the characters grew on her by the end of Nemesis.

She thinks STD is ok, we've watched S1 & 2.

Her response to Picard Episode 1 was pretty much "That's really good, miles better than any Discovery episodes"

Says it all really, and I think STD isn't too bad, but I'd be happy if STD runs it's course with a big finale for S3 & they then just concentrate on Picard, maybe double the season length to 20 Episodes with the extra budget.

2) 'His cloned daughters are humans with positronic brains'. Are they? Or are they synthetic life that mimics human form? Have we been told yet? Jurati talks about humans with positronics added, but we don't know yet exactly what Maddox did.

Watch the episode again. The "cloned daughters" are Organic HUMANS with positronic brain cloned from Data's 1 "cell"

CELL!!!!!!

DS9 was during the dominion war. Even voyager was during episodes like year of hell.

Got to agree, some of the best episodes of TNG were the darker and/or grittier ones.

Yesterdays Enterprise
Measure of a Man
Best of Both Worlds
Unification
Chain of Command

To name a few off the top of my head.

But the setting was totally different and it didn't look dark. The human race was living in some enlightened utopia, but they seem to have done away with that in recent versions and are making it more like Starwars.

CELL!!!!!!

The word "Cell" is never mentioned, again, were you asleep?

They specifically said that Maddox had a theory that "Data's code & maybe even memory may be able to be reconstituted using a single positronic neuron", that's a far cry from talking about cells & DNA.

Stop clutching at straws. You've clearly pressed play wanting to hate the show from the off.

I'd say for the most part they still are, earth still looks pretty utopian, shiny & peaceful.

well don't forget that they also now works to be done on "Michelle Yeoh" section 31 show. as for STP getting 20 episode order I don't think it going to happen at best you might see it get a 12-14 episode. you got to remember he in his early 80's now. I think it was report once the actors on tng did 18 hours a day for nearly 10 months of year, with some days doing 20 hours.

Really enjoyed it as I expected I would.

The only thing I found odd was the Irish accent on the Romulan woman, it's too much of a distinctive accent to work on an alien for me.
