Star Trek: Section 31

Has anyone contemplated that in the 90s when TNG came out, loads of older people who grew up in the 60s were equally annoyed that some Shakespearian actor was ruining their favourite show?

I get the feeling they make these shows these days for children with mobile phone attention spans.

I don't think they want to attract an aging fanbase but instead want one that they can sell to in the future. Same with SW.
No, I grew up with TOS and TNG was so much better. Picard was the perfect Captain and was quite different to Kirk. I loved the films with Kirk, even the first one, not the one he directed though. The TNG films were mostly poor apart from First Contact.

If this is going straight to streaming to try and boost subscription numbers, I think cinemas have dodged a bullet having to waste a screen on marketing this "film". Star Trek meets Borderlands (the film).

Will still watch it because it's Trek, but it's going to be a rough journey.

Roddenberry must be turning over in his grave - looks predictably awful

This is him right now:

What the people want, does not seem to matter. Most people I know want the series based on the last season of Picard. I'm even giving that a third watch through now, it was so good. Give us that, not this pile of rancid rotting dog poo.

You know what? The last season of picard was an act of avoiding the proverbial iceberg, and with the popularity it got you just know kurtzman would want to get involved. Leave it as the goodbye we never got for the next generation and move on.
