Star Trek XI

I honestly, honestly, can't wait for this, that trailers got me even more hyped now, for any avid Star Trek fans check out this tribute video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80_HKdvNhgA to get you into the mood, brings a tear to my eye, fantastic video, Star Trek being one of earliest childhood TV memory's it has been something that I've followed all my life, it's sad to think there will probably never be another series :(, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!! :(.

The trailer is at the start of the Cloverfield movie which I saw last night. Not much overly happens in the trailer, it's more of a revealing of the spaceship!

Argh, no the future is the way forward not the past, albeit the past in a future sense. The major problem with Star Trek and why it started to go stale was pretty much the same people were working on it for so long with only one or two minor additions/subtractions. Latter Deep Space Nine was fantastic as was early Voyager. It just needs some new people working on it and not in a way that rehashes old ideas.

Besides, I hate prequels.

Err....early Voyager was the same as later Voyager - it sucked donkey balls. Which is a shame, given that they started with a decent premise. Starfleet crew plus Maquis terrorist crew, a metric ****-ton of lightyears from safety, and what did we get? A TNG-ish family travelling at a leisurely pace towards home.

Oh, joy.

Cool picture nonetheless. Okay, I just watched the trailer and I'm not that impressed. Good music though, will probably be a good cinematic experience even if the film actually blows.

i really dont know what to think of this prequel I want to not like it because william shatner is kirk and lenord nemoy is spock but I just want more star trek. I love all the series even is it is in a lot of peoples minds unrealistic and so called "geeky"

Its clearly water:confused:

Looks very cool, not really a great fan but this should be very good! Plus, we seriously need to build one of them things:D

Well as long as it's as good a reboot as Batman Begins and Casino Royale, I'll be happy. The Enterprise does look very nice in that picture too!

For my particular Trek Rant I would like to say that the films and the T.V series rely on a charismatic actor to play the captain. Without the skipper having that certain something, it will be a turkey. This could be a problem because only The Shatner could play that sleaze ball Kirk and still make him likeable. :D For example...

The Good
William Shatner as Kirk, Patrick Stewart as Picard.

The Indifferent
Scott Bakula as Archer

The Rubbish
Kate Mulgrew as Janeway, and that yawn fest who played Sisko in the equally tedious DS9.

The DS9 fanboys have permission to set their phasers to flame! ;)

No flames here, but I will say that I don't think Avery Brooks is bad enough to be lumped into the same category as Kate bloody Mulgrew :) And even in it's worst, most dull moments, DS9 was so far ahead of Voyager that it wasn't even in the same universe.

Personally i'd like to see them do a completely new set of films with the re-imagines concepts, just as Battlestar Galactica had. I think Star Trek has always had a great premise, but has sometimes grated as it simply isn't dark or gritty enough. A re-imagines set of films could change all that, provided they do it well.

Objectively speaking (i'm no fanboy), DS9 had by far some of the most epic moments of any ST series. The latter part of the war against the Founders was awesome, almost Babyon 5-esque in scale.

Looking forward to this.

IMO though, Voyager is vastly superior to DS9, apart from some of DS9s later fighting sequences as already mentioned. I don't like the DS9 characters or most of its stories. Voyager is the 2nd best ST after TNG in my opinion.
