**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

My advice to anyone on the fence about buying

ignore most of the negative drivvel people harp on about in this thread.

if you want a star wars based game which has a more arcadie feel but is a game you can jump in blast a few guys then log off just in time for dinner

then you should in all intensive purposes enjoy this game like i am..

Enjoy the game whilst you can because it will be come like Titanfall and die on the PC with only the noobiest of game modes being populated. So let it be written, so let it be done. :D

Get well soon to the man who took a knock!

I find it quite amusing / challenging to sneak through the trees in Endor, being somewhat camouflaged to the environment and start a flank attack on the walker or the shock troopers. If you ever get pushed back to the last two comm links there's a good flanking route down past the sea/ lake.

I understand there are some serious flaws to this game (lack of squads / VOIP / matchmaking / Server Browser / grenade spam to name a few). However I haven't played a game since GTA where I am glued to the screen, happy for the rounds to roll on, laughing at the rag doll effects of soldiers and laser booms.

Ruled the skies (for roughly 4 minutes :p) with the A wing last night and one ally. I do think the air vehicle spawns should be protected somehow, players spawning are highlights and can be shot, even before they take control. Which is utter tosh.

I do the same on Endor. Lots of crouch walking and flanking. I played a lot of Halo, so I m very used to keeping a close eye on my radar. Given the low ttk and huge amount of concealment/branching pathways in this game, it gives you a huge advantage to have greater situational awareness of rough enemy location and in turn keep yourself off their radar. (I am presuming that sprinting makes you show up on radar)

That being said... It's still a case of: "Oh great I snuck up on a few people. I'm probably only going to kill one or two of them before I get wiped." The fact that every round you shoot is a massive tracer makes this even more likely.

Plus, despite all your efforts, remaining concealed is often not worth it. You can be attacked from so many sides even if you are trying to keep and eye on the radar. if you are personally trying to get the best k/d it's probably best to stay in a large group but position yourself so that others are likely to die first haha. But it being a team game, often I'll just say screw it and run forward just to die, if only to make the enemy pause a bit so they don't gain an advantageous position. As I said respawn time is so low, plus partner spawns as well, it means death is insignificant.

Looking back at what I am writing some may feel this this level of tactics sound interesting, but to be honest these are the basics that every FPS game will have in their very nature. I could go into depth at why I enjoy halo for its weapon variety, map control and team work, but this game doesn't really compare. And quite rightly too, it's aiming to be a different thing, more casual friendly.

To end on a high note, the most amount of enjoyable skill based situations I find are actually in the aerial vehicles. Even though I know that the flight systems feel incredibly basic, I enjoy trying to shake off a missile lock or pursuing fight through a combination of aerial acrobatics and flying close to structures or terrain. That's the one time I feel like my gaming skills are properly being tested. It's fun to hear the warning beep then dive into the canyons, barely skimming the surface before returning to the battlefield to settle the score.

Got a tax rebate yesterday, pretty tempted now. I'm missing playing a shooter, Insurgency is good but very hard.

That does look good, but don't you get banned for using mods

Anything that injects code/assets into the game will potentially get you banned - though graphical mods have always been a grey area - wouldn't use them if you'd get upset at your account being banned.

I think you'd enjoy it Josh, like you said, Insurgency is good but hard, whereas this is just something fun you can pick and play.

*Might* have a look around later on see what the pricing says. Please don't mention the Russian HUKD price again, as that was Russian language only.

You noob.

Don't give into the dark side! :p

I am staying strong! I was very tempted a few nights ago to buy it, thanks to EA's marketing mouth i.e. Tony.... :p But after seeing more videos with the heroes and wall hack, it just puts me back to square 1.

1 Tap is a Ronku Whore. :p

Dunno watched some of X's stream last night, looks fun and easy. I'm bored by everything in my games library bar Cities and that isn't something I can play for 2h and then put down. ACS is ok but a during the day game, Rocket league and Fifa are the same during the day as a last resort or when the boy wants to MP.
