**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

Have you read this thread? The amount of downers people have been putting on the game before they've even played it is ridiculous.

I know, I even started this thread and took off after the speculation negativity that appears to be today's game judging - it's all the same. Yeah EA made some terrible mistakes, but they'll learn and they can't disappoint a franchise far bigger than Battlefield. It's almost as though people love to put a downer on games like it's a popular thing to do.

Was watching some of the beta gameplay on Twitch and honestly while the game looks great the actual gameplay seems... I don't know, I feel it needs a bit more refining but this is what the beta is for :p. I'm honestly surprised with the game overall though, I had my expectations a little lower due to BF, but Dice seems to be getting SW:BF right.

My apologies EA, DICE won't disappoint but EA pushed for release which meant production wasn't ready. I'm going to edit my post :-)

I am surprised at my clan mates. We founded on BF so to speak, literally all of them are refusing to buy this game... Dont even want to play the BETA!

Oh well, suppose thats what they get for taking advantage! I'l give the beta a go, but would be HIGHLY unlikely i've ever buy the game! Not to mention the rubbish number of pages this thread has... shows people have lost interest.

They wont 'learn' as EA is generally the problem with games these days and they are too big to give a crap about how rubbish they turn franchises as the die hard fans of the games just lap up their turds year in year out so they arent forced to rethink their methods.

Prepare to buy battlefront premium super premium extra effects digital edition premium premium if you want access to all of the maps and weapons.

But why?! There isn't anything clear to put people off other than past experiences with EA. Their loss anyway, more fun for me

Exactly, that is literally stupid.

"Hey everyone - Here's an open Beta [demo] of our new Star Wars Multiplayer FPS - You can play it and decide yourself if you like it"
"WE REFUSE TO PLAY THE BETA BECAUSE A TRAILER PUT US OFF!!"

Let's see.

Some people say the reason you don't see many good comments on things is because they're happy with a product or too busy having fun playing it.
But when many people share a similar view it's because it's like it is a popular thing to do.

I think simply they've taken a franchise, or two shall we say - smashed them together at high speed in a collider to see what happens. The outcome is something that isn't new, doesn't try anything new in terms of gameplay mechanics and has regressed feature wise.
More than anything, they've removed lots of features you'd expect a game such as this to have in efforts to make things fair and easy to get into. No doubt for the possible influx of new players cashing in on EP7 hype train.

Problem is they've been going down this path, slowly - it isn't just because it's star wars but the next game by these guys, no doubt will have similar or worse restrictions on choice.
I'll still give it a go myself and form a proper opinion past what they've let us know so far.

How are you early access guys finding the matchmaking? I really struggle in BF4 if my ping gets to 50+ I can feel the difference so only play on low ping servers.

I read this game has no server browser so will be pretty miffed if it keeps putting me in 100+ ping server because my skill level matches others.

Can you choose English only servers?

I think once people have played the BETA and when it finishes there will be more positive comments I hope. Agreed when people are playing the game and having fun, it's not on their mind to post, so agree here. It's the same with customer service, you see more negative comments generally because when someone is happy with a service they don't do anything about it.

There are new game modes, but ultimately even in the BETA it's pretty restrictive so I'm sure there will be little surprises people will enjoy.

We shall see, as I said - I really enjoyed it and can't wait to get home tonight to stream it again :D

At the moment you click a game type and it automatically puts you into a game. I have had 0 connection problems and anything to do with lag, hitboxes. I didn't even look at pings so I don't even know if there is an indicator... that's because I didn't need to

lets just cut to the point

CONSOLES.

that is why battlefield and cod went down the pan for PC users.

look at each new release they do then look at the PC fanbase who play it. slowly cod and battlefield numbers are dropping.

you dont need a degree to see this its pretty obvious.

they want console money so they make a console game.

its not putting a downer on it its true.

look at anyone related to a product they will generally always project it positive.

the thing is sooner or later this bubble will burst for the pc side of FPS games but does that matter if so little are going to buy it ?

2 percent of bf4 total sales play it on pc currently.
battlefield hardline 1 month after release had 1000 players on pc PEAK
Battlefront goes exclusive first for XBOX ONE
previous battlefield games were SONY PLAYSTATION priority first.

PC is a afterthought now. has been since the no dlc decision changed just after BFBC2. which was the last decent PC battlefield game.

What he says is true^

FPSs are being destroyed by consolization. They are very limited in scope and generic now. With no dedicated server support or modding etc, it's all "matchmaking" rubbish. That is why sales on PC are dropping, not because of piracy or people ditching their PCs, it's because the products are junk compared to what we used to get for less money. Battlefront looks no different.

The only genres which are still primarily aimed at PC gamers are strategy and space sims really. Stuff that is generally more in-depth and too complicated for the average console gamer. That's why XCOM 2 is going to be PC exclusive (luckily, the original didn't sell well on console).

I will be trying the beta don't get me wrong. The hero game play just looks terrible though and i was hoping for so much more.

The animations are way off, it just looks clunky as hell. I have no problems with jedi/sith jumping all around the battlefield but it just looks bad. The saber swinging animations are also terrible and it doesn't even look like the saber connects with the enemys when they die. no dismemberment either? The game is still in beta though so maybe they will fix these issues but release isn't that far away now. Its not just the animations though.

Jedi Academy came out in 2003 and was the last game that actually had a satisfying saber system. Since then everything has just been dumbed down into a button masher and this looks no different. I want to have to time my attacks and actually aim the weapon! Give me god damn control over the beautiful glowing saber that my character is supposed to be a master at using. I want to feel like its me that is the master, swinging my saber from left to right to expertly lop of the head of that enemy gunner who is just within striking range and then gracefully transition into a right to left diagonal downward attach whilst turning to counter the other guy who his coming from my side. I want to plan my attack on that group of 3 enemy gunners over the ridge and then execute with speed and precision, taking them out in a graceful flurry with my success only reliant on my skill as a gamer. One mistake and i should be blasted into oblivion.

Instead it looks like a button masher with a timer meaning you have to rampage around spamming attack in order to prolong the experience. How is that in any way good or compelling gameplay?
