Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order (Respawn Entertainment)

It's epic. First half an hour, I thought it was a bit rubbish but I think I'm on day 5 or so now and it gets better each day. I have been loving all the exploration you can do although I am irked that I missed a few things and they are literally miles away from the start point of each map. It will take some serious effort for me to go and try and find them.

As a completionist, this kills me too. I've been slowly taking my time in this game playing it here and there since release. I finally just got to a pivotal point in the story and I agree, it's a bit slow to start but it gets amazing around midway.

Just finished it last night. The ending was a mega surprise. 9/10. 0.5 down for the long load times and another 0.5 down for having to trek ages to find things you've missed or couldn't get at first visit. :p

Went back to my playthrough after dinner last night for a quick half-hour session. Next thing I know I had my attention pulled away by the dog asking to go out and noticed over two hours had gone by. Feel like I'm starting to enjoy it more the more I play. Perhaps letting go of the comparisons to Soulsbornes and just enjoying it for what it is. Can't wait to get into this evening again now...

I love when the combat starts to click and you feel like an absolute god! Then a random blaster round hits you and you're starkly reminded you're **** lol.

Yeah, except last night for me it was a damned goat. Jedi ninja-ed my way through troopers galore. "Yes, I AM a jedi!" Then killed in the most derisive fashion by... yeah, a goat. :o

It's the poison spraying bugs, they seem to be my kryptonite. I'm all ninja and stuff, then as soon as one of them comes along, I always forget how slow they are and it throws me off.

'BEEE DEEE, STIMMMMMMM!!!'

I hated the goats too! The combat is so satisfying once you start levelling up the skill tree. I recently bought haptic feedback headphones and the bassy sound and rumble of the lightsabre is just brilliant! Such a shame that the new game+ only lets you keep the cosmetic stuff you found in the first playthrough and not your Jedi skills. It would be so satisfying to play through the entire game as a fully fledged bad-ass Jedi! Poor design decision that one!

14 hours in now, and enjoying the game a lot.

Fought a good number of bosses and mini-bosses now (and finding spiders a bit annoying, for sure), but happy to report that the goat is still the GOAT. Seriously, I know purge troopers are supposed to be more threatening, and they have more health and that, but I swear I know I am more likely to die when I see a couple of goats than when I see a bunch of troopers with a purge trooper in the middle...

(Illustrative example from yesterday morning - Run through a large underground area, full of ambushes, a dual-wield purge troop, rocket launchers, exploding things, gangs of normal troopers... I run through the whole thing using only one stim and get to the last section where there's a goat on a bridge... well, let's just say the outcome of this little anecdote is that I had to run the whole first bit over again...)

Is there constant backtracking the entire way through this game?

Finally gotten around to playing it and as much as I’m loving the Star Wars vibe, going back to two previous locations after accessing only the forth location is kind of annoying.

It’s not like that the whole way through the game is it?

I remember there being a LOT of backtracking, one of the things i didnt like about it. Still worth finishing though IMO

Doesn’t seem to be a fast travel option in this game at all, which is pretty unusual these days TBH.

Still playing it and still enjoying it but it does feel like they did it to reuse a lot of the assets rather than spend the time creating many more locations.

Even so, it’s still the best SW game for a very long time. :)

Don’t know why but the loading intro music gets me every time I load up the game.

Classic SW soundtrack, even if it’s not.

Get a bit of slowdown once in a while but think it may be down to my 2700X rather than the 3090FE. However, this game does make me pause and take in the view sometimes. Looks great at 4K.

Yeah just thinking about it makes me want to give it another go... Really was a surprise gem of a game.
