Star Wars: The Old Republic NEW VIDEO!!!!!!!!!

I can`t get my head around the squeaky clean graphics and I also find it strange that their only bragging about the voice acting rather then the acualy game elements?

Did you miss the bit where it says it's a video focusing on the voice acting, and that there are videos focused on other aspects, such as gameplay?

This thread makes it very easy to tell who has played MMOs and who hasn't. This game looks to be of a far higher standard than any that's come before it in the genre. But unfortunately because it's Star Wars, it's going to attract a lot of non MMO players who will immediately point out the things that are totally irrelevant to the genre without even realizing it. The complaints about it looking dated is especially funny, considering there isn't a better looking MMO in existence yet.

Hmmm...well thats kind of a subjective topic of course, but personally I think that LOTRO and AoC are just two which are better looking MMOs, and as far as I am aware they are both in existence. Thats if we are talking about technical rather than stylistics.

Whilst I appreciate the stylization of the graphics, I cannot in all honesty declare that there is no better looking MMO on the market than what I have seen in those videos, because in my opinion there is..... at least two.

Graphics are all by the by really though, its gameplay that truly hits the mark for me in an MMO. I dont think SWTOR will deliver the sort of MMO gameplay that I look for, but it should do well anyway, lets face it. Bioware is a name which sells well , and Star Wars is a name which sells well. I dont think they will have any problem shifting boxes :) (retention on the other hand is a different question, but thats something which only time can show)

It's not out yet.

I personally think at the moment Lord of the Rings Online is a very good looking game.

Graphics, are a small part of the game in the MMO market.

Warcraft has proved, that graphics aren't everything. Game play often decides the popularity and life span of an MMO.

I, nor has anyone else in this thread, being able to play this game. I will wait until it's out to play to pass judgement.

I really don't understand all the people saying "il be avoiding this piece of crap" and "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ITS AN MMO BLAH BLAH GRAPHICS BAD BLAH BLAH JEDI BLAH BLAH BLAH LIP SYNC"

The game is still being made and developed on. It is no where near ready. These videos are just showing the public and fans watching the game, this is what we are working on heres a little snippet. (oh and for those not smart enough to realise its not finished)

I mean it hasn't even got a release date yet. Just give it time.

If you feel you can judge a game thats not even in an Alpha stage of testing then you are a complete idiot in my opinion.

(awaits the generic your a fanboi !!!! comments....)

Of all the games i have played in recent years, Mass Effect is my favourite.

After many years looking for a MMO to equal the great Star Wars Galaxies (pre-CU), i am looking forward to a Bioware MMO.
It could be about anything, in any setting or story as far as i'm concerned.

A Bioware MMO is a marvellous prospect and a deffo buy for me :)

Dont play it then.simple:)

He has a point though. For every major event in the game, I don't want to be shunted solo into a single player instance. That looks very much like what's happening here.

Doesn't bother me so much if it's like lotro's instances, which can be done by a party, but I can't see that working with the speech options shown in the video. Does the party leader do all the talking while everyone stands around like a melon?

It looks like Mass Effect with a star wars skin. That makes it a very exciting prospect for a single player game, but a bit worrying for what's supposed to be an MMO.

You mean Mass Effect looks like Knights of the Old Republic with a mass effect skin on it :D

I'm sure I heard somewhere that they wanted only a hand full of players per server ? or per world ?

Really??? What...like 32 players per server or something? Now that really would make it more like Neverwinter Nights than an MMO as per my earlier post.

Makes sense in a very heavily scripted storyline game but would be very odd paying monthly for that though.

I heard 16 from PC Gamer, I think.

16 people per server so you can really create your own world.
