Starcraft 2??

I knew you were going to go into this crap about points and counterpoints so take it to email instead of crapping on this thread.

Just try play both games to a high level (no, not that UMS dota you harp on about, those "heroes" were done in SC UMS ages ago) it really highlights WC3s glaring weaknesses.

Crapping on this thread, you brought it up in the first place lol. Stop trying to be so elitist and just accept the facts that not everybody likes the same things, and not every game you don’t like is 'god aweful' (sic)

I would like to throw my hat in as somebody who prefers war 3. I think both are great but felt that SC was somewhat generic while war 3 took a few more risks and introduced a few new ideas.

And you're very welcome to your opinion, just like I am allowed mine without locrian diving in on it.

You know a real **** when they start resorting to pointing out typos.

You've not contributed to this thread at all, congrats.

Now, back on topic please, take it to email if you have issues. :)

oh and carriers == instant win apparantely.
Sorry but no, carriers means using up all your resources, only to get them mashed by any other air unit, then watch your ass get counter-attacked.

Zerg all the way, Zergling and Muta combo is unbeatable :p

It's a joke, trust me I really know my stuff. ;)

If you purely mutalinged you'd lose quite easily.

Was playing starcraft last night and Id like to say (and ask) a couple of things.

Where is the 'skirmish' type mode, like a multiplayer for me against computers. I cant find it

How the hell do you select more than about 15 units, I tried and it doesnt select any more, VERY annoying when sending things on an attack. DO you have to number squads like in redalert?

Excellent music, really adds something to the game

-oh, im running 1.03 i think not 1.4 patch because I left my memory stick at work yesterday again

Unless they have changed it with a recent patch (which seems very unlikely) you can only select a limited number of units at one time. As far as I know every blizzard RTS has had this restriction.

/runs to ebay to sell starcraft

how the hell do people launch/organise 200 unit attacks then?

You never have that many if you are decent. You use speed and dexterity to do it if you ever come across that situation which helps to differentiate the skill boundaries in online play.

I fully understand why some don't like it though :)

The max selection is 12 units. You can organize them by selecting them, then pressing CTRL+ a number (1-9) and thats how you can make a division. ;)

Also, a good way to start is to play on a map like "Big Game Hunters" its pretty big and has a lot of resources.

Open Starcraft/select multiplayer/starcraft expansion/double click on Local Area Network (UDP)/create an ID and click OK/create game/select the broodwar folder/webmaps/ scroll down and you should see a map called Big game hungers.scm, select it and then select a game type melee/free for all then select your race. Now go to where it says open below your name and select "Computer" and then you can choose its race. When you are ready just click on OK and the game will start.

thanks kizz, I had a 1 vs 1 game last night against the computer. after about 15 minutes their first wave came in and got rid of all my scv things and a couple of buildings. I got rid of them and built a fair few units and even got them a weapons upgrade. I though, great im sorted now.

after about 25minutes a nice big line of flying things came over and truely drilled my stink box. I was dead in about 2 or 3 minutes :(

no computer difficulty anywhere to set is there? And what tips/tactics do you people have for someone new to it like myself?

I just built loads of scv things at the start and only a few units to get the 'money' rolling in. But then a large attack came and wiped them out. How could they build so many units? Id just run out of money and so do either or (loads scv or constant units)

Best way to hold out in the opening stages against the inevitable zerg of the AI is look for choking points, build 3 bunkers, 2 flanking front with 1 middle rear, and fill with dudes, anti air either side, build and upgrade to seige tanks, build some more anti-air and your pretty much sorted.

wow sc, ages ago if i recall correctly.

sam sites, terran machine gun dudes do as well but sam sites = real killers

the protoss turrets shoot both i think

zerg just get loads of hydralisk

great game SC, i have to agree though the later levels of broodwar was pretty hard (the one where you there were 3 special zerg creatures? on the map and you had to destroy them before reaching the hive)

i have to agree SC over WC3, gameplay was just more fluid and intense. got bored of WC3 quite quickly. i cant put it in words, just feels not as good to me.

you can also get loads of 3rd party additional add-on campaigns for SC if you want single player which expands on different stories. my bro gave me 1 years ago tried it out and it was a good laugh.

ah ctrl (1-9) sigh, remember those days when i split active squads in numbers, artillery, air support ect. what good fun. still do it now in rome total war.

if your gonna play online learn the hot keys! some people online in SC are mental! then again i suck :D

Anti air in SC is

Terran missile turrets
Protoss Gun turrets (do both)
Zerg base extender thingys mutated into anti air option.

for anti air ground units u have

Marines, goliaths
protoss dragoons. archons
zerg hydralisks only i think

then theres areoplanes

terran wraiths battleships
protoss reavers carriers
zerg flyers and suicde flying things.

then theres a few more new in broodwars. but thats a different story.

been a long time since i played i think i may whip it out and see how Tasidar and fenix are getting on :)

EDIT- awwww you beat me to it i got a nice warm feeling remembering all that lol

this was my favourite rts ever. I would love a sequel not to see it in great graphics, but to see what happens to the story line. like they are/did bring out a fps on the ps2, set 3 years after brood wars, but it wasnt going to be on *** pc so i wouldnt be too keen.

If I try to get into it if sure itll be fun online. Do you have to signup to that battlenet rubbish or can you just load a gamelist and play someone?
