Starcraft 2??

Best way to hold out in the opening stages against the inevitable zerg of the AI is look for choking points, build 3 bunkers, 2 flanking front with 1 middle rear, and fill with dudes, anti air either side, build and upgrade to seige tanks, build some more anti-air and your pretty much sorted.
Simple marine/medic combo completely outstrips that for a lot less.

I can beat 7 AI opponents (all on 1 team) on hunters (non-crappy version without silly amounts of resources) /big game hunters as zerg or protoss so if you want any tips feel free to ask specific points. For general advice nothing will beat experience and google.

Not many but yes there are. 4 Player maps are the most popular because they allow a true 1v1 game to be played and that's all the WGTour maps are. WGTour maps are incredibly well balanced too.

For a start try this:

Make sure you put marines in the bunkers as well. The turret will detect anything invisible coming by land or air, the dudes in the bunker will shoot at land and air as well. The siege tanks have a great shooting range when in siege mode and do a lot of damage. :D

Make sure you make a lot of SCVs for mineral mining and gas.

Also you can try putting some turrets on the edge of your territory so you won't get invaded by air like this:

Find space to build your supply depots:

Make Starports and battlecruisers:

Attack:

Wow... erm, I'll point you to a decent guide when I get back home, one that will help you improve at the game rather than some stop gap "guide".

battlenet.....havent been on there in ages, used to be big on the diablo scene as well

ahh good ole memories. tempted to fire up my D2 now as well but left my copy at my brothers place along with my copy of SC.

re: SC2 i could have sworn i saw a video ages ago with 3d? much better graphics for SC. google video turns this up http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3980165796053569246

The music is horrendous on that video, but the sound effects are still the same as SC which were ace!

actually wait in WC3 i remember seeing hydralisk and an SCV, wasnt there a rumour they were going to port SC over to the WC3 engine? it did look pretty good.

Not the WC3 engine :(

SC is meant to be fast paced.

Exactly what I thought. SC has to be fast! BTW thanks geeza for the sites with tips. I also downloaded all of the replays and watched one. Awesome playing

I'll record a 7v1 tonight and if you have the latest version of SC you can watch it as a replay :)

I imagine you will do things so fast I cant even tell whats going on anyway. But yes, should be interesting

This thread made me feel all warm and fuzzy remembering SC days, so much so I just ordered it, £7.99 inc expansion ***!

I always liked those spider mines.

Hmm... it won't be a first person VOD so you should be able to keep up fine :)

So many people buying SC now, can't wait to get some OcUK games going.

3v3 is all fun and games but 1v1 with 6 spectators 4tw

Edit: also playing computers is very predictable and linear, with humans you have to always multitask and harass so don't judge my playing style on tricks necessary to beat a dim opponent with 7 times the troops and resources than me :p
