Starcraft II Delayed

Activision Blizzard Q4 2009 Results
Activision published their results for the Fourth Quarter of 2009 and released a handful of information, nothing really new here but it's worth a recap.

* Cataclysm will be released in 2010.
* Starcraft 2 will be released in 2010, the beta starts in February.
* The slides mention "value added services" a couple of times, it is most likely linked to Bornakk's post hinting at a "premium" service for the Auction House available from web.
* World of Warcraft still has 11.5m subscribers, it didn't change much since last year's announcement.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Beta!

First round of closed beta will only be for people who already have beta keys apparently - from Blizzcon, contests etc. Still, the sooner it starts the sooner they get round to more invites.

Could be interesting to see if any surface on ebay to see how much they go for. People who have been following and playing SC for the last 10 years are pretty hardcore, I'd expect some would pay a great deal for one :)

i am looking forward to star craft 2

been waiting close to a decade for a sequel, makes me feel old when i say that.

what do you think of the screenshots so far ? i heard some people saying the graphics looks too cartoony like warcraft 3 instead of gritty like starcraft was.

the beta was just released i was going to make another thread and put stars (***s) in the title but i didn't.

well if it is not released at the time of writing it is almost released i was reading the forums the people are freaking out cause they are so close to beta... :D

apparently beta is LIVE

The casual gamer approach to this and the split into three games has put me off it to be honest. It looks too cartoony and the graphics are dated. I will probably buy it though; the original was so good simply on story and cutscenes.

i never played wow or any other blizzard games have not played SC since like 2000 or something silly.

but i enjoyed the lan games we used to have with SC and have not seen a decent rts since. so i am looking forward to playing.

i think a lot of people have mentioned the cartoony graphics and i hope blizzard listened but they have spent years making it and i think taht is pretty much how it is going to look.

i have only ever bought fifa 97 and quake 2 and half life 2, originals, so it is a stretch to think i will purchase all three. but depending on how much i like it and if they restrict multi.

if they come out with monthly subscription they can gtfo

Wouldnt mind watching some of that, if only there was no annoying bickering in the background

Yeah it's a bit annoying. Also I wonder if there is an option to turn off the ingame voice so we don't hear the "We require more minerals" from the players spamming.

A new one, very good competitive SC1 player Nony. - http://www.teamliquid.net/video/userstream.php?user=Liquid`NonY

Off to play STO whilst watching the stream until I fall asleep at the keyboard - g'night :)
