Just watched onine, truth be told im not impressed.
The acting seems flat and forced with most point's.
And unlike the orginal their is no new or untried idea's (seems like theve glued multiple programes to gether to grab the fan boys of all the progrmaes)

Also really hate the sterotypes being portiated kinda leads to the idea of lazy writers tbh.

Will be interesting to see how the 3rd part of the opening episode pans out - might get to know a little more about the various characters even though we already know more in some respects from two eps than we did from 5 seasons of Atlantis!

3rd episode will decide for me how interested I am in it or not... trying not to spoil it by looking up the info on the next one... if they end up in the middle of a forest/mountains and meet a medieval culture with people dancing in a village - I don't think I'll ever watch another stargate episode ever again.

Well from whats was said in the behind the scenes program after the premier on sky one all of the aliens they encounter have ben cg so far so its probably a safe bet that wont happen.

I enjoyed it but I'm definitely reserving my opinion at the moment as pilots never truly represent what a show is going to be like. Just look at the SG1 pilot for example, it was much darker than the rest of the series, had an 18 certificate and even had full-frontal nudity in it, but did Carter ever get 'em out? Sadly no :D

I don't think Carlyle quite knows what to do with the character yet, the intention is obviously to do the 'harsh but logical scientist' bit and he is almost certainly cast to do those big dramatic speeches when required.

Nevertheless with the lack of science fiction on TV these days I will stick with it.

The uprated asgard tech that allowed them those capabilities was first installed on the Odyssey, and lesser advanced versions are found on the Prometheus. The Daedalus was next upgraded to the uprated asgard tech but doesn't have the full computer suite as found on the odyssey, the other Daedalus class ships are being upgraded as well but at the time of Stargate Universe the George Hammond/Phoenix does not have fully functioning uprated asgard tech but just the basic shield, beaming and engines - none of the asgard weapon tech, I believe the advanced shield system is online tho still in testing at that point in the story timeline thingy.

EDIT: Oh and the wiki has the final daedalus class loadout on it for the hammond - before anyone reads off the wiki at me :P I don't know if its even been confirmed the hammond does eventually gets the nuclear arsenal, full asgard core or the beam weapons.

you sad sad man :D

lol :D

I would think it will probably be along the lines of something bad happening with RC being possibly responsible. Playing a bit of a darker character with his own agenda rather than a group survival thing.

The first two episodes seemed to be good enough yet I still can't help but feel that Wright and Cooper will fall back into the same routine again.

I do hope that the prospect of a different planet every week will bring Universe back in line with early SG-1.

I liked it. Havent really seen much of atlantis and loved the SG1 from season 4 onwards (although 9 and 10 were meh)
Will have to see how this one pans out

the more I look at it, the more I think that RC's character has a lot of potential.

What I don't like is the squaddie with a chip on his shoulder, that's going to get old quick.

And the communications stones... that's just weird

I enjoyed it, but as said before i'm a huge fan at it filled the viod left when SG1 and atlantis finished. Although SG1 finished way later than i should have done and dont even get me started on the last 2 films!

I hope it turns out to be good. It could go either way at the moment i think.

Im a big SG fan but this pilot left me with a sour taste in my mouth, ill give it a chance but Rush acts like he's a frackin robot with an agenda, the soldier who was in the stockade is an ass who i want to see shot in the face and the fat genius....well he's a fat genius so i guess he'll end up saving everyone at the end of each episode zzzzzzzz.

*prays to the SG gods that it all works out*

I wasn't impressed with the first 2 episodes but I didn't think I would be. I will probably watch the whole season and see what I think at the end of it.

I watched the first ever SG-1 episode when it was broadcasted and sort of grew up watching SG-1 (from about 12/13yrs - 25yrs). I was more suprised to see how Jack O'Neill has aged, you can forget that he will age just like any other person in this world. I noticed the same with Carter.

It was however, really nice to see some G'ould action! The whole Ori thing became quite boring.
