Apparently a new show has been green lit...

And its not a reboot, most of the old show runners/exec's are back...

As is Roland Emmeric and the other bloke from the original film!!

I was hoping that Amazon would at least start to air the old stuff to build up a new user base...

Quietly optimistic..

Well given that Universe went offline in 2011, then we got that crappy web series thing, at least someone is still thinking about the gate..

Interesting.

I'd love to see a show which built on the better parts of Atlantis and Universe without some of the filler and corny fantasy stuff, though I guess it will be more SG-1 based.

EDIT: Though I think it would also be quite interesting to see the perspective and stories of new recruits into the program who aren't initially aware of what it actually is - quite a lot of potential for drama and so on there but ideally without the level of talking to the camera soppy stories that was part of Universe or became a staple of The Walking Dead, etc.

Red Flags already, why bring back Roland Emmeric in any capacity? 99.9% of the worth of the franchise is due to the show's not the movie.

I enjoyed the film but never really got into any of the shows, I did watch the one with Robert Carlyle but it wasn't amazing, I think I need to look back at some of the SG-1 episodes as a lot of TV is utter tripe so makes sense to look at older stuff

I always found Universe a mixed bag, some elements of it are really good, but it is let down by other areas and the story kind of goes a bit weird, like with Atlantis I really enjoy sitting down and rewatching the first few episodes but it quickly dies off on me sadly.

Universe made some weird choices in story telling early on, I remember the first part of the mid season two parter being one of the worst in the franchise history. After that people were never going to return the show after the break.

This is great news! It’s fantastic that Brad Wright, Joe Mallozzi and Martin Gero are back and Amazon are not going to reboot the franchise and the new show is a continuation of what’s gone before.

I’m excited to see what’s next and if they’ll touch on the unanswered questions of the series finales to Atlantis and Universe somehow?

(Still makes me sad to this day that Stargate Universe was cancelled after Season 2, just when I thought it was really starting to find its feet, with its great cast of actors too!….I’ve actually still got a script signed by Joe Mallozzi for the Stargate Universe episode 2x10 Resurgence could never bring myself to get rid of it)

As a complete Stargate nut, I’m really excited about this.

Amazon has shown with shows like Fallout that they can produce some fantastic shows.

With the OG team on board, I’ve hit high hopes for this.

Please be good, please be good.

My only concern is that higher ups don't interfere with their own show runners and that those show runners are chosen for their talent, not their politics. Now that Jennifer Salke is gone, let's hope creators can get back to making good episodic TV shows.

I'm already pleasantly surprised at who the producers are, and that it's a direct continuation, not a prequel, mid-quel, reboot, ie none of the nonsense that hardly ever works.

Couldn't stand universe, it all went so serious and that shaky cam\random zoom in crap was irritating. Didn't they make fun of that in an episode of SG1 then they go to that format in a new series?

SG1 went downhill after O'Neill left.

Well Im sitting in my alteran control chair now and if things go bad I'm just a thought away from firing off 500 drones at Amazon HQ.

Indeed.....
