You're right, and I do sometimes find that it's sad that something I find great, early seasons GOT as an example, only have 10 episodes, where I'd happily consume double that per season.The thing is with filler episodes, they pad out a lot of the character interactions and back story, short shows, you wont get that, so wont care about them as much or see why they are the way they are and so on..
But SG1 and shows of that era, perhaps because they tended to have more of a "this episode a totally new issue will arise unrelated to the previous episode, our team will struggle, then overcome it, and then end of episode", it meant that filler episodes really do feel filler on rewatch and nothing more. They too often do not add to the story, just to the character, and each episode for the most part is totally detached from the last.
So now rewatching a show with 24 episodes a season, an hour each episode, 6/7/8 seasons, it's really hard to do.
I'd love to rewatch small ville but haven't for this same reason.
