I fully understand its patriotism, nothing wrong with it.

I prefer the British approach where we politely wait until the end (or at least let them say more that 10 consective sentences) before we clap.
A nation of people who like to wait in order, and queue ehhh ;)

I agree. Especially when your trying to listen to the speech and like you say a ten minute speech last 2 hours and there is more cheering than the actual speech:p

Its the same with TV shows. there is a half hour of the show and another half hour of adverts in between the show:rolleyes:

I agree with you insofar as showing anyone dead on TV is uncalled for, and the network shouf be censured (not censored) for that.

Send a missile to blow them up? Good call. Love your work.

ACTUALLY, i didnt say blow them up, i said what they were showing was sick.

A large contingent of Iraq’s Republican Guard headed south in a convoy of at least 1,000 vehicles toward U.S. Marines in central Iraq on Wednesday — an area that already has seen the heaviest fighting of the war. The advance appeared to signal that the Republican Guard, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s best-trained and most loyal force, was still prepared to go on the offensive despite several days of allied airstrikes and missile attacks on its positions.

An 'embed' traveling with 1st battalion of the 1st Marines reports that the division is somewhere west of the Euphrates and has transported some 250,000 gallons of diesel fuel to front line units. This would seems to confirm that Coalition forces are regrouping in preperation for a renewed advance. However, ealrier reports have the same division east of the Euphrates. This is one of the first reports to emerge after a massive two-day media blackout.

Southern Iraq :: Clive Myrie :: 1657GMT

I am with British troops, Royal Marines 40 Commando in southern Iraq. A huge column of Iraqi troops has been detected in the area, believed to be 70 to 100 vehicles. Both a British radar and drone have spotted this column and it is heading south east.

This is being seen as either a possible counter attack to try and regain some of the territory lost on the Al Faw peninsula or a tactical retreat from Basra, where a popular uprising has been reported. It is unclear at this stage which one of these reasons is going on.

A number of fighter jets have been directed to the area and I understand the column is being bombed from the air now.

From a blog which I read

To the GRU guys who are backdating stuff from my site: do your own research! Knock it off!

There are a number of russian sites supposedly written by people with GRU supplied info based on SIGINT and satellite data. Its generally BS wrapped around a core of truth

Can anyone tell me what technology 4ID has available to them that makes them so cutting edge?

The 4th Infantry Division is the Army’s First Digitized Division

The new division will be smaller, on paper - going from an authorization of nearly 16,700 to slightly over 15,000. Also, there are 24% fewer combat platforms in the division, most of those reductions occurring in the armor and infantry battalions. Although smaller in number of personnel and vehicles, increased combat lethality, survivability and speed will be achieved through information age technologies and logistic efficiencies:

The maneuver brigades will have their own scouts - the Brigade Reconnaissance Team (BRT.)

The maneuver battalions will be reduced to three companies with a total of 45 combat vehicles. Company organizations will remain the same.

The mortar platoon will be standardized at four 120mm mortars each.

The dismounts will be standardized at three squads of nine men in each mechanized infantry platoon.

The Division Artillery’s Multiple Launch Rocket System battalion will have three MLRS battery’s of nine launchers each.

The Engineer Brigade HHC will be replaced by a planning section at the division level. An Engineer battalion will be habitually associated with each of the three maneuver brigades.

Now the division has M1A2 SEP (system enhancement program) tanks and M2A3 SEP Bradleys. The vehicles have the Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below, or FBCB2, digital command and control systems built in. FBCB2 is the empowering device in these platforms that allows you to see where you are, see where the enemy is, see where your buddies are. The Apache Long Bows are also equipped with FBCB2. FBCB2 is a software program that drives the information gathering and communications systems. While it is generations ahead of the applique versions, it is constantly evolving. Later versions will only increase the decision-making abilities of warfighters.

My dad just said 200 tanks are advancing on our lads in Basra

I just heard on the news that 1000 armoured vehcled are advancing from Bhagdad

Coalition aircraft are attacking a large convoy of about 70-120 Iraqi tanks heading southwards towards the al Faw peninsula. The force has moved outside the city of Basra.

Iraqis tried two moves to deal with coalition advances. Thet first tried to reinforce Najaf with RG from Karbala. This did not go well for the Iraqis. Several hundred reported dead. The first brigade pushed and secured bridges north of Najaf. This ended badly for Iraqis. Possibly hundreds dead. To the west of Najaf was secured where an Iraqi group was destroyed and or captured. Again here, possible hundreds.

They then advanced East of the Euphrates river. This was halted in quickly with air and artillery support when the move was detected by JSTARS assets.

Surely advancing all these tanks is a bad idea. We can crush them with air power before they even get close, the A-10s will have a field day.

If they kept their armor around built up areas like Bagdad surely they would fair much better.
