Starting swimming, any advice?

tried to slow it down today

managing to do 2 laps before stopping

I also want to elaborate a bit more on my last post

My neck issues are actually stopping me from breathing on one side, so i do 4 strokes, then breath , i cant do 3

some days (a bit today i did) - up it to 6 strokes before breathing, sometimes i do "2" , "4" , "6", then repeat

Breathe every stroke then, it's what I do at the moment as my cardiovascular system can't quite manage bilateral breathing at the pace I want to swim at.

cold showers, this morning ....
I only breathe unilaterally (?) many folks do, I don't know if that slows me down much ?
I could believe, my stroke is less balanced, loosing efficiency, as a result of it
I haven't dedicated time to trying to learn bilateral, pool time is precious;

did try a nose clip, to see if sinuses would benefit, but, despite not really sensing that I breathe a lot through my nose, I could not live with it.

i REALLY want to see how im swimming, if i knew how i am swimming, i could use that as beneficial, anyone actually filmed them selves ?

I might borrow my brothers Go Pro, as his is a waterproof one, stick it at the end of my lane and record ?

While I'd love to analyze myself I think I'll forgo the inevitable shock of just how whale like I look lmao!!! Regarding the GoPro, you'll be well served to ask before doing so and do also check with any other swimmers that they are happy with it too, I know the pool I swim at is happy for it depending upon times and usage.

Interesting coronavirus does not get killed in a pool, just diluted ...

pool practically empty, interesting, have a cold - blocked-nose, didn't realise how much I use the nose to breathe,
but crawl was impossible, so backstroked the session instead.

I rekon these are what I will get - seem to be everywhere as a physio product
MSD Resistive Exercise Tubing With Handles
http://www.physioonline.ie/category.do?43
can buy the tubing on it's own, and diy the handles
... just need to find more information on the resistance force appropriate for swimming ... or, double them up.

edit : force table

I'm thinking of getting a meter or so of the green , to try out for stroke exercise. 3-5Kg of pull effort sounds about right ? should be ~£10

the purpose built (more expensive) stetcordz, and finis ones, in medium, are also, coincidentally:) green

LOL schadenfreude

need to find a 'wild' swimming or coastal opportunity

assume there must be some exception/lock-in for high level athletes.
