was chatting with the misses last night, and got talking about sex in a previous life, i have been a bit foolish in my past and she has not kind of got talked into getting a test done, anyone else been of late, what's the process?

its only a bit of plastic...last time I had a check up (for work medical stuff) i was so worried about it that I didnt even notice it being done.

a scrape, a blood test, and urine I think is all I had to do. covers checks for all major STDs

A friend had one done (yeah...that's it...a friend). You phone up your local GUM clinic, make an appointment. It's all painless (literally). and confidential.

Oh great! I have not had any symptoms! So is HIV a blood test right? And Chlamydia is a pee in the pot job, anything else would have shown it’s ugly head by now, and it was not like I was a total ****

Cotton swab down the old boy, also my friend has told me he has had a metal one put down his, it opened out and scraped skin cells off the inside. Those are extreme cases though I believe.

You'll have to specifically ask for HIV test, it doesn't fall under the "usual std test" category. There's a small scratching sensation (well, there was when I had mine..) but no pain. Blood, pee and swab.

I've heard that getting it done through a GP can affect your life insurance premium. Something to beard in mind if that's the route you're planning on taking.

Life/Health insurers ask if you have had an HIV test. I made a rant thread about this very same thing a few months ago.

i don't have life insurance so no odds there :) - i think i would rather some stranger does it, but...... what happens if it's a female nurse, i think i would get a stiffy if ANY female touched my captain

With the life insurance thing, asking if you've had an HIV test. Do they think that it's a good thing (decreased premium) if you've had one and it's negative? Or do they think it's a bad thing (increased premium) because you thought you might have HIV?

If it's the latter (which I suspect it may be) then that's disgusting, as it encourages people not to get tested, but i'm sure that this was covered in the thread about it not so long ago.

Tbh the tests are nothing to be worried about, just go and get them done, don't worry about the nurses tbh they have probably seen a lot worse than your little todger so thats nothing.

Been a few times now, its best to keep things in check after a split with a girl, I do it so I can feel safe in the knowledge that nothing is wrong with me.

If you have any serious questions post and I'll try and answer from my experiences.

The internal scrapey one is hell on earth, specially with some 60ish year old asian male doctor holding your most prized posession and sticking something in it!

Next 24 hours of peeing were a bit painful, but no pain between pees!
