** Steam Backlog Support Group **

I blame humble bundles....and square enix easter/christmas bundles....and all other sales that trick me into buying games because they are cheap lol

Atleast now we have steams awesome refund policy! 2hrs played and up to 14 days after purchase full refund no real reasons needed

But before this yes much money has been wasted :(

agreed.

i dont really like talking about my backlog as it is a clear tally of how much money wasted

285 games here and I'm terrible at completing them. I've recently started to try clear the backlog, so I have two categories for my single player (story driven) games.

(SP) Games to Complete!
and
(SP) Games Completed!

Once I have finished a game from the top list, I will move this over to the completed category and forget about it. Also I'm going to play the games on Normal difficulty. I also don't care for Steam rank or earning badges.

Didn't realise how bad it had gotten until a newly recruited guy at work was showing off his "massive" Steam account last week on the Steam Calculator website - 75 games owned! He asked for my username and looked me up - 161 games owned, of which 40% have never been played. Dread to think how many are under 2 hours played, my guess would be somewhere closer to 80%.

It's nice to come to a decent forum and see that actually in the grand scheme of things, I'm not too bad. :D Thanks guys, remember if you can't be a shining example, be a horrible warning!

Haha, I had a similar situation recently, except I was the new guy... Thought my 200 games was bad, turns out one of the guys at work has 2,944! Yes, that's not a typo!!

Lets face it, the vast majority of games in most people's Steam library are absolute rubbish they've bought because it was cheap, usually in a bundle deal.

Can't say I've ever bought a £10+ game and not played it straight away.

I agree with this, I very rarely pay top whack for a game nowadays (especially for a single player game), and if I do I make dam sure I play it. On the the other hand my steam library is littered full of games I havnt even installed let alone played!

This year was the only year since the steam sales began I havent bought anything. There are loads of games I want. Rise of the Tomb Raider, Dishounoured 2, Resident Evil 7, Planet Coaster, plus like 40+ more on my wishlist, but i'm not buying them until I have played through some of the games I already have.

Getting there slowly, but I want to complete Fallout 4, the Witcher 2&3, Assassins Creed Black Flag and Skyrim special edition at least before buying anything new.

Gosh some of you guys got a lot of games

I'm sitting at about 127 games and still need to complete around a 110.

Kept looking at the list thinking I need to take at least a year off work to finish it.

Then there's the Uplay and Origin lists too ....

Add on to that that I'm trying to read 25 books this year, finish a degree, starting new job in 5 days time, just moved cities so trying to sort house and furniture, trying to lower my golf handicap and hitting the gym 3 times a week.

So so little time :/

I took a long look in the mirror at Christmas, and in the end, I only bought two DLC on sale for Assetto Corsa. A big spend of four quid. I have 400 games on my account.

I was severely tempted by the Witcher 3 after reading all the reviews, and then realised that I hadn't even got past the basic training on the Witcher 2.

So I'm currently playing Witcher 2, and have enough unplayed games to get me to the next Steam sale.

Wow, some of you have huge amounts of games on Steam.

I thought I played a lot of games but I have less than 140 and have probably completed only about half of them.

If my Mrs ever says I spend too much time gaming I'll point her to this thread so she can see it could be much worse ;)

I also managed to almost get through the Xmas sale without buying anything, but I did cave in and buy DOOM because I had simply heard too many good things about it... and to be fair I've started playing it immediately... And also Firewatch... And a little silly game called Pony Island... (Oh god, it's happened again)

That's the other annoying thing - you see a game on sale, buy it... don't get around to playing it and then watch it go by again and again in future sales getting cheaper every time and yet you've still not even installed it :p

That's the problem, although we all have large amounts of games we don't seem to play them. I'm at 219 and have managed to play 55% of them categories do help massively though.

I have a monstrous backlog and last year I tried to revive my blog as a 'Backlog Blog' and gave up for some reason. I'll be getting back into it this year though!

45 unplanned games in my account, but the only one I can think of that I really keep meaning to get onto is tales from the borderlands.

I do have a few that I really need to finish though (witcher 3 dlc, gta 5 SP)

*Stands up* Hi, my name is Schnipps and I'm a recovering Steamer

I've been Steaming for a while now, eventually finding myself with an ever-growing list of games and less and less time to play them. Now a days I quickly realise that the time required to download games is greater than I have to play them, so I go back to stuff I already have installed. It's a vicious circle as new stuff is released, bought and added to the back of the queue. The list keeps growing.

I'll get there, eventually....

*sits back down*

Thanks Schnipps, we've all been there. This is a safe place. You WILL get there, one game at a time.

Hi my name's Ryan and I have a buttload of games I'll never, ever get to.

I think a lot of the problem is getting a bit older and the effort of starting a new game from scratch is much more of an ask, whereas I can just go back to something warm and cosy and familiar.

I've stopped buying stuff for now. Wait a minute, no; I bought Overcooked last night and me and the gf played that for 4 hours straight. Ok, so mostly stopped buying stuff.

Awesome little game, my bro introduced me to it over Christmas and we ended up playing 4 player until about 3 am!

2 player is pandemonium, can only imagine the kind of chaos (and screaming and shouting) that would happen with 4 players!

We keep re-quoting things to each other like: "I need some clean dishes!" or "MORE ******* LETTUCE!!"
