Steam game install problem

Wait until you get to the NVME drives - so much quicker than SSD.

Also HD's will affect FPS to a degree, if, when running around you are dynamically loading then you may get blips which may get annoying.

I'd agree with a lot of other posters, verify the drive is okay - assume you've done the Steam verification as well? If you can afford to then a SSD / NVME drive would be a good purchase.

I switched from 850 and 860 EVOs to MP600s and WD Blacks - haven’t noticed any change at all.

I’m sure I could measure it, but I can’t perceive it.

The first jump to SSDs is the greatest perceived change.

For me:

Loading windows went to around 1s from 12s on a SSD (timing after POST). Loading games like RDR2/GTA5 were a lot quicker. Around 15-20s quicker. I do some video conversions (basically using stuff like Cantasia) and it’s far quicker to convert. My drive isn't as fast as the M600 (according to the stats mines around 3500/s speed) but I notice a considerable difference.

I'm not saying don't get an SSD but if you are upgrading I'd suggest getting the fastest drive you can get (depending if you have a compatible motherboard, etc.) in line with your budget.

There hardly any difference at all in loading times between a SSD & NVMe
As long as none of them are the cheaper QLC, QVO etc versions
