Steam issue HELP

Something like this?

Dear Steam,

An unfortunate problem with my Steam account has arisen. It appears that yesterday evening my AGE son come into possession of my (his mother) credit card and ordered WHATHEORDERED without my permission. His purchases have totalled £TOTAL. If it is possible, I would like a refund to my account. I appreciate your help in this matter and apologise for taking up your time.

Yours sincerely,

Mummy Spyder

What i dont understand is. My brother is a smart kid. AND hes extremely good at maths. He never ever spends any of his money, just saves it and saves it. What crazy things does TF2 offer that drove him to this! All the money was £4 and £10 wallet credits. that new steam thing where you can store money on your steam account. which after the first authorised one he was just able to one click add every time himself it seems. and he spent it all in TF2! all in one game!

Pretty sure the steam wallet works that way. You add funds to it (or if you dont have any in your wallet, it will take you to the payment screen to add some - this is what likely happened) but it goes to the usual payment screen. Your brother probably hit the "remember my details" button on the steam payment store. To spend £160 he would have to have everything in the shop I'm pretty sure. Could you link his backpack? (http://www.tf2items.com). Well, if it's not banned because you did the chargeback that is.

was she really going to spend £168 on 1 kid for christmas when she has 6 ? can't be that hard up :p
anyway if she was then just let him keep the items he bought, they can be his christmas present.

she wasnt going to spend that on him. Besides the twins, the youngest are only 1, daisy the next up is 4 then 9 then 15 then 19 (me)

the oldest get the most. usually £100 at christmas for the olders which is saved up for over time.

What's Steam's policy on kids that borrow a parents card then spend more than they said they were going to? Not refunds I'm guessing :p.

he has 108 items in his backpack it seems. The linking thing doesnt work. i changed his name to something i cant post here. might take the site a while to update.

steam got back to us! they have wiped his backpack and refunded the costs! Because all his purchases were for the INgame TF2 store they have completely cleaned out his TF2 account and refunded it all!

so thats a thumbs up for steam!

thanks for the help guys.

Brilliant. Glad your mum got her money back, I hope your brother is made to feel horrible for what he's done. Hopefully you or your mum will supervise his online purchases from now on.

Just a little advice to anyone in the same situation.

Try to contact the retailer first. Just talk to them. At the end of the day, they are people too and they will probably help you out. Some companies out there still have decent customer service and it would behoove us all to take advantage of that and support it.
