Based on what? Independence Day is an American holiday, it has nothing to do with the games industry or the rest of the world. The 4th of July is irrelevant.

Summer packs were added to the Steam database ("Stardock Collection Pack - Summer 2012" & "1C Collection Pack - Summer 2012"), that's either for a big summer sale, or perhaps just a smaller weekend deal, but I suspect the summer sale.
 
Still working through the latest humble indie bundle, will probably keep me occupied until GW2 (Oh, and SC2).

I shall try and stay clear from any steam sale in the near future...
 
I'm hoping Space Channel 5 Part 2 will be under a quid, immediate buy from me.

Sega never released a Dreamcast English dub which is a shame. I enjoyed the first game so looking forward to this one. Space Michael was funny lol :p
 
There is a possibility that the stem sale won't start till the Amazon sale ends, publishers who are the price setters on all DD could be using the appearance of Origin, Amazon et al to try and squeeze a better deal out of Valve. EA and Amazon may offer better terms than Valve and like supermarkets can use DD PC games as loss leaders because of there alternative revenue sources.


Or Gabe's ****ed someone called him fat but hasn't got to Critical Miss:Children of Steam levels yet.
 
if there really is a summer 1c pack added to the database there will be a summer sale. These are only ever in publisher pack sales during huge sale events. For me that is enough to make me patient and know it'll come in the next 30 days.

You're pretty ignorant of the fact that America is pretty much driving the gaming industry.

All major releases happen on American dates and according to their times, it is also relevant to pretty much all international sales, like the Steam one.

Sales around the 4th of July are normal, two previous Steam Summer sales started on the last Thursday of June, almost all digital download providers have started theirs last week.
