Stephen Fry and Apple Macs

I like Stephen Fry, and I completely accept his right to promote whatever product he wishes, but my word it does get on my nerves. I could understand it if he could come up with a decent reason for liking the Mac (which of course he can't, as it's, you know, a Mac), but most of his evangelism seems to stem from its aesthetics. A factor which becomes less important when you actually try to achieve something with it.

I'm more amazed that he finds it a problem to run Vista, I don't particularly like Vistas insistence on checking everything that it does with me and warning me of what might be problems but it is a very easy OS to use.

He should be allowed to endorse Macs if he chooses but it becomes a bit more dubious if he is using television programmes (and I'm guessing BBC ones) to do so as that seems slightly like it would conflict with the impartiality that the BBC is supposed to display generally.

Someone that likes Vista, Jesus H Christ I thought I'd never meet one. Are you high or drunk or both? I'm not an Apple fan boy at all but Vista is absolute ****

His also a gnu guy.

Who said apple and open source don't mix :P

I often find its the pc guys that get offended easily, mac people just ignore the crap that comes their way.

I have acutally been threatened by a guy in computer science class for using a macbook. Thats just stupid.

I like Vista. I hated it for a year, and then gave it what must have been the 4th or 5th go, and finally fell in love with it.

It's way better than carpy Mac OSX, which is restrictive and irritating.

Each to their own. I find Mac very easy to do what I want, and so does Vista. However, Mac do it in a better way lol. Basically this thread is just going to go into flame war about which is "better".

It's all down to user preference at the end.

Why there's at least 4 of us in this very thread, it must be your lucky day. Now you know where all the mentals are at one time. ;)

Vista is not "absolute ****", it's a pretty solid OS, sure it interferes rather more than it should but aside from that it does everything I've asked of it and it does it without fuss. For what it is worth I preferred Windows 98 for the level of interference it gave i.e. almost none, if you wanted to do something you could and if that happened to screw up your system, tough luck, you'd know better for next time.
