Not disagreeing but not entirely relevant given the car was stolen by breaking into the house and taking a set of keys?

Nah I meant more in general, not particular to this case. It's mentioned in most car theft threads and the internet is full of stories. Can't have nice things nowadays.

How is keyless relevant. Just moves the goal posts.

Go in house and cause more pain to owners or just steal the signal and drive off. If they really wanted it I’d rather them not come in the house.

need to get there house belled up or sleep with keys under the pillow :( been a spate of car thefts where my mate lives there using some extender cars have keyless entry a faraday cage / bag is needed to stop it or one of those car bollard things on the drive.

those disc locks are good that cover the whole steering wheel.

Just wanted to point out that if your relatives neighbour can find this thread by googling, then so can the thieves. You might be giving away information there that would help them avoid being caught (they might now know to dump the Juke)

They have had an alarm engineer attend today and have had a full intruder alarm system fitted. These cretins may well have already dumped the Duke, it's probably stolen too. But point taken.

Well people weren't getting mashed for their keys before keyless entry were they?

lol at all the people in this thread blaming keyless/the car's security. They broke into their house and stole the keys!

I think the hysteria/knee jerk reactions to keyless entry are ridiculous ( as exhibited by this thread).

If a thief really wants your car, he is taking it.

Not if you make it practically impossible to steal with hidden switches etc or pulling out fuses when your not using it :p

Keyless entry/start is a huge flaw though. A lot do get stolen via that. Store the keys in a metal tin and that method won't work.

I would rather just not bother and have them steal it :p

Yes you can go to the ends of the earth with steering locks, hidden switches, fuses etc to make it harder but then how much convenience do you sacrifice just to mitigate the very slim possibility that your car will be stolen?

If they really want the car, a good and determined thief will find a way to steal it regardless.

Sadly when you have nice things bin divers often want them too. They are not wiling to work hard to get them however so find it easier to simply take them often astonishingly with the mindset of "well if he can have one why shouldn't I have one too!". In houseyworld, said bin divers would be lined up against a wall and shot at dawn and if caught breaking and entering would be hung, drawn and quartered in the village square. They would get the message in houseyworld....or we might run out of bin divers, but result would be the same. Glad the car has been found but sadly I suspect the scum will out again tonight looking for another car to 'own' for themselves or to put into a contained for some blokes in the Middle East/Africa/Far East to 'own'.

sleep with keys under the pillow :(
No thanks. I left the keys to my ST downstairs to avoid having some thief join me in the bedroom.

If they're willing to break and enter I don't want to test if they're willig to assault too.

It's a shame we can't make the punishment for theft loss of fingers or similar.

If you put hidden switches all over your car or remove fuses someone will beat you up until you tell them where all of them all.

If someone wants to steal your car, they will

My keys are by my front door. If they want it the bad don't wake me up and fill your boots. It is insured, tracked and you probably won't get far. If you could wash it and put fuel in that would be good thanks. :D

In the days when cars were non keyless it never stopped car thief's from taking them..
Like how many RS sierra's & RS escorts XR2/XR3i/Golf GTI's etc hot hatches were stolen back in them days

I like the sound of Houseyworld too.

Just this week we had 2 scrotes try and break in to 3 of the cars. CCTV caught them in the act at 5:30 in the morning. Thankfully no damage and the police arrived within 30 mins of me calling them on 101! They reviewed the footage and took a copy knowing in our case exactly who the culprits were. They've been charged by the police for the same offence 3 times and every time the courts have let them go with a slap on the wrist.

In Houseyworld our jails would be a lot emptier.

I live in a very secluded location off the beaten track. We love it as it provides fantastic views and perceived security as we as silence come night time and for 14 years we have been lucky. Last week I got a text from a neighbour asking me to ensure my CCTV cameras we in full force as he had just confronted 4 likely lads in a BMW parked near the entrance to our little gated (with an open gate due to some neighbours being odd) community 'up to no good'. He will have scared the bejesus out of them I am sure, but now we are eyes on hooks looking out for scum infiltrating out little environment.

They are everywhere but at least we will know when they are here and if we plan it well they won't get out as we have a single point of ingress and egress....and I have a REALLY deep well :D
