Stolen iPhone X

I was in the coop earlier, and assisted in restraining a shoplifter who tried to walk out with a ton of booze without paying. The police never turned up and he was eventually let go without the booze and barred from the shop.

The coop have their own security staff but as I understand it is like one guy between about 5 or 6 stores.

If there are no units free, then this is the unfortunate consequence.

Thing is, this could be antisocial behaviour.
It could also be intimidation, if the owner is doing it on purpose to harass the poor elderly woman in her house.
Serious fouling using an animal is disgusting, and whilst it may not warrant a swift police response, there should be some council unit assigned to it.
The amount of dog **** on footpaths outside schools can be ridiculous.

This falls squarely under "nice to have" when it comes to what the police should be focusing on. We stopped doing nice to have stuff in 2014.

There was also another crime committed on a female staff member in late hours, which is I found the reason why the coop near me is now closing 8pm every day instead of 10pm.

Should have said he used a nasty word, they'd have been there in no time to lock him up.

Yeah but these people are usually known to police, I'm sure they could make an educated guess. Even looking on Google maps I can probably guess which house it is.

Educated guess / supposition & reasonable suspicion for search, let alone warrant of entry are two very very different things and could end up with the officer in big trouble.

Although, if there was time available to allocate an officer... I'd imagine a high probability of the phone being handed over with a "I was just about to bring it to the station" type excuse, should someone in uniform knock on the correct door. For something reasonably small like this, I'd assume most such thefts are crimes of opportunity and/or desperation, rather than any hardened criminal.

But, I imagine, given how cheap insurance is and I'd imagine anyone with an iPhone can afford it / has it... it's probably a lower impact to our economy to brick the phone & let the insurance payout. Which they should do quickly with a crime reference number.
