Ive wondered that, thats why I got my 5yr warranty from the online shop and not from Pioneer:eek:.

Though they are not making them anymore (which made me rush out to get one while I had the chance), there will be a mountain of spare parts which they will be able to make use of...I guess they would just send an engineer out...?

Calibration was mentioned a couple of posts ago...I've dug around the menus and found some detailed colour settings which I was surprised to find on a 'consumer' TV!

Is calibration something that can be done at home, in the same way that monitors are calibrated with tools such as the Spyder and Eye-one?

I would imagine it's different but would be interested to know more about it, has anyone got any information, and does it really make £300 worth of difference when all the picture processing settings are switched off?

Yes you can by software that can make a difference but not as much difference as an ISF engineer with thousands of pounds worth of equipment;). Go and look over at AVForums for in depth detail about getting your TV calibrated!

Getting your set ISFd professionally is the real way to do it because:

- He will know what he is doing :p
- The equipment will cost thousands and be made specifically for this job.
- You will have a setting for daytime and night.
- Each input will be calibrated, therefore each different source will be catered for and made to look as good as it can.

Hahaha check out my thread, I put up some pictures of my install. I used 4x 80mm rawl bolts, 12 "tap con" concrete screws and I was still worried for a few days... :D

Here's some pictures of the Blu-Rays I've collected. I still have the jaw-dropping moment when I watch some of them.. Gotta love Blade Runner.

I have to say those earlier pictures are absolutely amazing... especially since you've taken them with a camera... you've gone a long way to convincing me to switch to a plasma.. by the way , presumign we're talking about the same tv as the will smith ( I am legend) , what resolution is that running at? ( i still need convincing that resolution isnt everything)
 
Ad do you know if there's a way of renaming channels? The whole Input 1 thing is kinda lame.
 
My 5090 remote is falling apart - the top (with the button labels) is really coming away from the bottom, so that the input buttons right at the top of the remote are completely flat. Most of the channel buttons downwars are fine

Hopefully I can get a free replacement after this length of time

Let me know how you get on mate as mine has got a little nick in the top corner and although it's no real big deal it is visible if you can get replacement's it'll be something that I'll want to do ;)
 
I like the remote - its nice and weighty, rather than just being cheap light plastic - a good firm feel imo

Sure Tom - although Im not that hopeful
 
My remote don't rattle. I need to get myself a harmony one remote because I'm tired of using 3 remotes to turn things on.

The other way to look at it is that because these sets cost so ******* much, you expect every part of it to last in a decent condition rather than fall apart lol :D
