Straight to Phase?

I have to say I take issue with that - I ran an old Mach 1 on my XP-m system and found it more than adequate for everyday usage, even with a large clock. With a properly modded system you can have a relatively quiet system and a decent jump over water. It is expensive, but certainly not 'pointless'.

I will concede that I run nothing more than a low grade pelt on my gfx card now (only because I can't be bothered to dismount it) - I don't even run water on my main rig anymore ;)

But phase is fun - and well worth a whirl - whether you stick with it or not is neither here nor there, as long as you enjoy the experience! :D

that's cooling an XP-m not a toasting quad core. :)

at the end of the day this is a hobby which i realise so most of the benefits of phase is in the 'kicks' ....it's just that a single stage is relatively boring in terms of massive clocks these days anyway.

So what sort of a clock, over and above an air based clock, would you not find "boring" ?

Well I aint going phase now, at least not for a while, just purchased a Dell 3007 so I'm all spent up this month.

a 3007 is a much better buy than a phase, congrats

Yeah there comes a time when you have to limit the amount of money you put into cooling and actually buy something that for all intents and purposes makes more sense. Cheers for the advice;)

a 6300 @ 5ghz would hold my attention for about 30 seconds.

i've just come to a point where benching to me is just pointless and boring at the same time.

id rather pool the money into tangible benefits like high-end storage and triple 30" monitors etc.

you saw a non existant model? well done

did your contact on the inside at intel move to dell? :p :o

Dell sales rep @ work as it goes, as were converting from HP to Dell to fall in line with the new e-fax system at our head office and all our contracts are on Dell. The softwear used is not HP happy and the HP systems are crap.

Due to the work we do big screens need so we can check CAD, CAM, Drawings, all sorts of stuff.

Really nice and not bad at all on price!

08 aint far and kit for it is already in price and spec formatt
