Just watched the finale episode tonight. Liked it a lot but definitely felt it didn't quite hit the right notes in too many scenes.
Over all decent series but epaidoes 4 of this season was just by far the best. That scene where the demogorgon stops midair and it pans across to will behind it
Seeing how they used wills powers in this final episode was disappointing that we had this whole big scene in the previous. They built up the need for will to come out and be free of his worries, to then never have it a thing again. At least if Henry had started to go through wills fears and we see something about this, and will just says something back like "I've already outted myself" and then he fights back even stronger against Henry, it would have made that previous episodes coming out have a point.
Linda Hamilton and her number 2 guy were awful and lived way too long. I could accept linda being allowed to live if we saw it was part of els plan to have her see el die so that she gives up looking, but we didn't get that scene.
I really dislike how the wall in the upside down was found by everyone this series, while in no other series was it scene by a single character.
The final battle against the mindflayer again felt like a good idea but just poorly done. There was no need for the group to be right under it's feet at the start. It's distracting how they should be dead at this point but no one even gets a cut. For how long some scenes took, it sure took the group zero seconds to climb to the top of the cliff side. El jumping into the mind flayer and yanking Henry out of place was cool. Having Joyce take off Henry's head was good, when I saw that axe the first thing I said to my partner is I hope they thanos henry with it.
Over all a really good show and a good ending. I just would say, given they had 4 years, there was a few too convenient moments this series that came out of no where (the mum blowing up the demo with those gas tanks and the tumble dryer being a perfect example) , and a few too many moments that could have been explained with a single line or a single action to make them make more sense.
I think I'll rewatch the series in a couple weeks, this time without any stupid gaps and see how I feel after a second viewing.
