So I'm a bit late here
Watched the 8 episodes over the last few months, kept on putting off watching the last Ep8 as did havn't over 2hrs available, but got round to watching it last night.
So do I have this correct, there were 4 different worlds/dimensions
1) The real world (matrix)
2) The upside down was some sort of metauniverse version of the real world.. or as the the portal to the other planet.
3) Vecna's mind
4) The other planet where the flayer is.
And Henry became vecna by touching a stone (from I guess another planet) when he was a kid, which let him have contact with the flayer. All the other kids were generated from henry's blood, and linda hamilton was heading up a plan to start that whole thing again ?
I definitely dozed off during some of the Episodes, so I might have the above wrong.
In terms of the pacing, it feels like in the last 2 epsiodes probably 1 hr of the 3:15 was spent teasing out/completing relationships....far too much.
In terms of the characters, Linda Hamilton was simply there because she was Linda Hamilton. She brought nothing to the story. Also, I don't ever remember her being small, but in this she appeared tiny. And when did it become ok, in what is effectively a wholesome smalltown group fighting other worldly beings, for these wholsome small town people to kill scores of US soldiers ?, that felt badly off, i get it they were a force to be dealt with somehow, but hopper just point blank killing them at various times in the eps, and Elle doing it as well just puts a big negative on the characters.
This could have easily ended with Mike and Elle heading off into the middle of nowhere, but the fact they left the chance that Elle is alive is something, although I though it was pretty clear that the Dream creator (can remember her name) died.
I can see the central group of characters coming back in say 10 years time, as real adults this time, to effectively get the old band together. The Steve/Nancy "group beer" thing pretty much set up a scenario for this.
