Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Yeah I did, it was bad enough waiting the first time round, especially since I wasn't gonna be on for long. If you are gonna set up a new one really you should do it before your game, not right after you have played and lost...

That just happened to be the moment where ravl and i were wondering if best of 5 was too much for 4 people, and we thought it was. Ravl was going to create the new room but asked me to do it because he didn't want to interrupt your game.
I'll admit, i didn't even consider the fact that i had just played and lost. It's not like i'm desperate to get games in; if i did, i wouldn't pick characters like Gief.

Margaret, where have you disappeared too, don't you play anymore??

too lazy to bust out the stick, have been meaning to get into it again but other games been getting in the way a bit.

me and my class today were enticed by this video all of last lesson though:

It's a trap!

Cheers Kreeeee.

F Word Blad - I've played him afew times. Is he representing the UK???

edit: seems like he is, he was using Ibuki here though, I think I played his Ken, the name definately rings a bell.

SoCal Regionals finished up over the weekend as well with some epic matches and results. Tokido especially with his Raging Demon pose that stole the show and doing exceptionally well in the competitions. Hope to see more of him internationally.

I'm looking forward to the Canada Cup this weekend where we will finally see Mago participating on North American soil.

Gouken
[Normals]
First of all, his normals are overall improved.
To be precise, his close s.MP and close s.HK have more frame advantages.
His close s.MK has 3f start-up, so it'll be easier to compete against some of the casts.
Also, neutral jump HP and diagonal jump HK have pursuit properties, and will slam opponents into the ground.
Ranges of the normals haven't changed.
Back grab has been changed to deal gray damage, so the combo damage from the grab has been decreased. (<- I believe they're saying that the back grab deals 0 gray damage, so it'll get scaled as a combo as well.)

[Specials]
In specials, LP Palm (Senkugoshoha) has been drastically changed, so it will connect from weak attacks (LP/LK), and EX Tatsu locks opponent, making it easier to combo.
Also, recovery of the Demon Flip Focus has been significantly decreased, making it easier to utilize.
Kongoshin is changed as well.
To be precise, it will come out in punches only, and strength of the punch changes where it kongos.
LP will take low attacks, MP will take attacks right in the middle, and HP will take attacks at the upper body.

[Others]
During backdash, Gouken is now considered airborne right after invincibility ends.

[Overall]
Normals and specials have been changed, and he will be able to do new things while retaining the old ones.
As a result, his 'easiness' might have been changed, but you will be able to enjoy strategies different from Ryu and Akuma.

Yup, LP Palm apparently won't be a forward motion anymore. But i think Ultra's off a back throw won't be as powerful!

They aren't powerful anyway. You can tech OS it so much easier than normal throws.

Edit: I get you now, less damage. Good, it's a stupid setup for Ultra.

I'm not convinced the buffs are all that great. The 3 frame s.MK might be too far to connect after 2x cr.lp for a hit confirm. And still no tatsu that hits crouched characters.

Better air focus recovery is great though - right now, i'm sure he's still at a frame disadvantage when he lands if anti-aired by any medium/light attack.

Hey Arth, thanks for crushing my confidence today :D
What did I get 3 wins... maybe even 2. GKN Vs GKN made me feel ill!

Ill keep at it.

However many times i used Gief is however many you won :p

I used to use Gouken a lot, so the match was a lot easier for me. I do about 80% empty jump-ins against him, and i also rarely use parry myself. One missed parry means you'll be eating an Ultra, so imo use it more at the start of fights, and less when the opponent has Ultra/more meter for a big punish.
Check out some of his vids on youtube - search for gouken tricks/resets or something like that for some of his fun combos.

Can someone tell me if I have just gotten absolutely crap at this ever since I have stopped playing for many many months... or has Guile been nerfed in some way? I swear he does less damage now.

Ironically K, I'm now landing cr.lp cr.mp 50% of the time. Another 50 to go....

On another note...

That so needed to be the Guile theme tune in SSF4.

Nope, Guile is still God tier in SSFIV.

His FK still does mental damage, he still has silly safe SB's, he still has by far the best normals in the game (120HP backfist, and the best AA in cfp!).

This is my phone ring tone:

Edit: Are you plinking the cmp? It will only be a 2 frame link then which you should easily hit all of the time.

Nope! But! I remember trying to train myself with plinking but found it a bit of a hassle. Perhaps I need to revisit it to give myself more of a chance when I do the link. Do you plink K?

So Guile is still God tier eh? That settles it then, need to train up again once more.

Cav, when are we getting our Guile mirror match on? :) I play a very basic Guile using hardly any combos, but as K said he's definately v high tier. I can beat some people with Guile who I can't beat with Ryu, he is quite easy to use defensively - it's when you come across a good Guile who is going on an all out attack that you know you're in trouble!

Ive come online the past few nights man, but tbh, I dont think I will be much of a challenge in my current state.

I'm still raging that I cannot pull off cr.lp cr.mp effectively still. I dont understand the timing of it as I never can get it right.

Also the FK -> FADC -> Sonic Hurricane must be learnt, and would love to do it.
